Roof Spolier for 4G. Anyone bought from this seller?
Hey all, after looking at some cars that have the roof spoiler on (Fyah's in particular), I'm sold! I saw this seller on Ebay and it looks ok, however just wondering as the price is far below what most others have paid. Thoughts? Anything in particular I should be looking for? As always thanks for the input guys!

I bought one for my Maxima from a dealer in Taiwan and it was okay. The color matched perfectly but the adhiesive tape came loose after while. I had to take it to a body shop and had it redone. for the price it's a good deal.

I got mine off ebay as well, and the tape sucks. I bought stronger 3m tape from a local autoparts shop (Lordco) and I haven't had any issues. 75 bucks shipped and painted. Took about a week. The price has gone up a bit, but this is the one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PAINT...item45f6af9ca4

i got a rear roof spoiler from ebay from Taiwan also. Paid $75 they match the paint exactly by the paid code listed on the inside of your door. I also installed it just to have it slide down in the corners so i took it to a custom place for them to do the dirty work of taking off the old tape and installing new stronger tape, so when you get it take the tape they provide you with off and save yourself time and money.
The spoiler is actually flexible which i didn't expect.
It looks great on this car though so go for it!

As for installation, they provided some adhesive/silicone with it but really don't want to use it.
So are you guys saying to take the tape provided off and replace it with the 3M tape. I've worked with that before and it works well.
Was that enough to hold it on without the silicone?

I didn't use the silicone. I tried the first time, and it came off in a couple days. The secong time, I applied the tape ontop of what was there, but I used a A LOT of rubbing alcohol before I applied it and let it dry for a while. But it isn't moving at all, and it has been on there for a good 6 or 7 months now.

Put mine on this weekend. Did not use the silicone. Bought some 3M tape and added to what was already on ther. Then I had my daughter hold the other side as I started from one end and guided it into place. It is definitely a 2 person job for it to come out right.
Now will see how long it wil stay on, seems pretty secure though.

I'm a big fan of the roof spoilers for TL's. They look great on the 4G's too.

If you can get the tape off and put 3M then I would. If not then yes I would use any and all adheisive promoter's you can find. It will save a headache later on.

Also, I talked to a my autobody guy and he told me not to use the silicone that came with it as that was really for keeping the moisture from getting under the spoiler and was not for any additional adhesion.
Also have someone help you hold the spoiler when putting it on the car. My daughter held the other end while standing on a step stool while I guided the spoiler into place as the rear window has a bit of a curve to it.
Good luck and let's see the finished product when your done.

^Thanks. I just installed it with the help of my daughter as well. I ended up leaving on the tape that was there and I applied some dots of silicone in parallel lines on the glass every inch or so. I then had her hold up one end while I pressed and conformed my end to the glass and roof line and worked my way down. Fit is perfect and so is color. It seems very well bonded with no flex or movement at all. Started to rain the very second I finished installing it so I moved it in the garage. Will take pics when the weather clears here in NY.

So you use the double sided tape that is already on the spoiler, and did not have to use additionam 3m tape? I'm wondering if just leave the original tape on it, and add a layer of 3m tape, would that make it higher?

I added a strip of 3M tape, but I did not add it to the thin tape that was already on the spolier. I just added a strip where there was no tape at all and it worked out fine and did not make it any higher. I used the 1/2" wide tape and the 1" on the ends. It's pretty pliable so it should not effect the hieght.

not yet, I ordered it last week, and it's probably in the process of being painted. Not sure how long the shipping is, hopefully to receive it in 2 weeks. Depend on how easy it is to remove the existing tape, I may just use my 3m tape instead of theirs. thanks!

I will post pics soon. keep us posted on how the install goes. I think it may be really hard to remove their tape, but try it on one of the small end pieces first. ordered mine on 5/1 and got it on 5/17. The original tape plus some silicone really worked well and seems extremely solid. good luck.

Mine came in today as well, very fast shipping! Bought it from mustang.vitality on eBay (total cost $83). The color match is perfect for my Crystal Black Pearl, and the fitment couldn't be better! Looks like an OEM fit/finish!
The spoiler came with two strips of double sided tapes, but I removed the one closer to the top row, and replaced with the 3M tape. It was PITA to remove them! I imagine the one's that came with it should work fine, but I wanted to make sure the spoiler really stick to the glass
Here are two close up pictures:

Guys, this is a subtle aesthetic mod, but I think it makes a classy difference. Once you see your car with the roof spoiler on, TL's will look weird without them....

I think it compliments the car because of the already edgy design of the car.
