Thanks jusrushem - I didn't even know Borealis Blue Pearl was a color option for this car until I got really serious about shopping for a 4G TL. The one I let get away was a MT in WDP that was two states over with the 19" HPT wheels. I kept looking at the WDP on Autotrader, but I kept making excuses not to buy it. Finally after 2 weeks I decided to call up the dealership and ask to take a test drive, but he told me he just sold it. I was devastated to say the least...

After that, I could not find another manual WDP with that mileage and that price range. In fact, I could not find any color manual in that price range. So, I stumbled across the BBP in town at one of the dealerships. It was CPO and was in a color I've never seen on a 4G TL before. It was not a manual, but it had the OEM body kit and the 18" wheels I really liked, and it was in my budget.

While I like my BBP a lot, I wish I didn't let that WDP get away. No stalling the next time I ready to buy a another car.

agree. change the tape, clean it with alcohol, then apply it. what i also did was use a rolling pin, & rolled it for a few mins. but we will see.
si1. i have not seen one here yet in that color. i was lucky when i bought my wdp 2010. it was the last one, but i just spent 1400 for the kit. drawback to the body kit being white? the silicon between the kit, & body will collect dirt, & come black. thats my opinion

What island are you on? I had the opportunity to visit O'ahu and Kaua'i a couple years ago. It was the most relaxing trip I've ever been on, and the weather was great the entire time I was there. I wish I could have some Spam musubi again right now.

Well, looks like I need to make a decision whether or not to order a new spoiler altogether.

As I mentioned earlier, my spoiler just fell off this past Friday due to extreme heat (I live in Las Vegas). I took the spoiler off the car, removed all the existing tape and left it in the garage with the intention of prepping it to reapply this weekend.

I cleaned and prepped both glass and spoiler surfaces, reapplied a much heavier bond 3M tape, went to put in on tonight, and the thing shrunk about 1/2 inch after sitting in my garage for two days! My spoiler was flush on both sides after the original install and I now have a 1/4 inch gap on each side, and a nice ripple effect on the top of the spoiler itself. It looks horrible so I removed it.

I wouldn't have guessed the heat would have contracted it that much (if at all).

Also, before i put mines on, i polished it, & cleaned the whole spoiler with alcohol to ensure the fit.

I did mine solo. It takes some time and patience, but it's doable with pretty good results.

When I got my spoiler, I added a 3rd strip of 3M trim tape after cleaning the surface of and contaminants. Than I cleaned the rear glass area with the alcohol pad provided and then had an extra set of hands to help me put it on. Just did the exact same thing with the one I installed on the Maxima.

Recommendation guys. Cut the red plastic that blocks the double sided tape into 3 sections. Basically like this:

------------\ --------------\ -----------\

Then peal away the red in those areas about 1-2 inches and have it dangle outside the spoiler. Lay the spoiler down so the tape only in those areas is sticking out and it will have just enough to hold it in place till you get it even and you will be able to lift it if needed to adjust. Once it's fine, pull the red cover down each way out and apply pressure once you pull them all out. Then it's done.

Variation on that theme above if I may.

The way I did was that I first taped the two ends in place with blue masking tape. Then I taped the center section in place with the blue masking tape. This placed the ends exactly where I wanted them (taping the center section kept it from sagging and moving the ends).

Starting on the driver side of the car I then peeled back about an inch of the the red backing from the top and bottom side of the spoiler 3M tape and secured that section to the rear glass. Then using the tip of my finger, I traced the channel between the roof and the glass to line the spoiler edge to the glass edge and then slowly pulled the top red backing as I went along until I reached the center of the spoiler.

I repeated the same steps from the other side of the car. Once I had it in place, I removed the bottom backing in one continuos pull (leaving the bottom backing in place made it easier to reposition the spoiler if I had to. Luckily, I didn't have too) Voila! Spoiler installed.

I hope that was easy to understand.

These look great. I cannot wait to receive mine and upload some pictures...

I have a question, would you guys recommend me painting my roof black first on my white diamond pearl TL and ordering the roof spoiler black? Or just get the roof spoiler white and still paint the roof black?

If you are going to black on the roof, then the spoiler should also be black. If you are going to keep your roof white, then either way IMO.

IMO if your roof is black go black if it's white go white. The roof spoiler on my white TL was white. Now with the Maxima with the black glass roof I went with a black spoiler. Looks great.

my was also short about 1/4 inch on both sides. I sent them a email, and here is their response "Our standard width for this item is 1140/1145mm andthat figures is marked on this item's backside.
Because the low temperature could make this item frigid, please warm it up with hair-dryer when installing it. "
Because of this response, I won't bother returned it or purchasing another one.

sipoint6 >> That looks pretty darn good. Mind if I ask you how much it cost you? And how long it took you to install the whole thing? I got the same Graphite Luster and I am super tempted to get one for my car too.

Thanks mr_raja, and I don't mind at all. I paid $84 after shipping and taxes. I took a look on eBay tonight, and bmwoemshop still has them on sale for the same price.

The actual installation only took me about 5 minutes. I first windexed the top 6 inches of my rear window to make sure the tape had a clean surface to stick to. I then pulled off the tape backing from the spoiler, lined it up with one end of the rear window, and then slowly attached the spoiler to the window while aligning it with the edge of the roof. When I got about half of the spoiler attached to the window, I went to the other side of the car and laid the rest of the spoiler down. Although I was able to install it on my own, it would have been much easier if there was someone else there to help me with it. Also, pimpin-tl has a great suggestion in post #52 of this thread on how to pull the tape backing off, and I wish I would have known that during my install.

I've had the roof spoiler for almost a month now. Even with the extreme temperatures in Arizona (105 during the day, upper 70's at night) and the occasional monsoons rains we have had the past couple weeks, the spoiler has held up like a champ. You won't regret buying it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

When I ordered mine, I put my color code in the Paypal notes just before I confirmed payment. Also, I received an automated eBay email from bmwoemshop the day I ordered with the following text:

The paint job takes 4-5 working days to finish. We will update you with the on-line tracking information when the item is dispatched. Please kindly confirm with us the following information :

For the painted item-
Please provide us the color code in order to paint right color for your item. Color name maybe different in different areas but the color code is universal

The following websites are for your reference

http://www.paintscratch.com/
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/paint-code.htm

*You can also check with the car dealer to confirm color code.

For shipping information-

Not sure what is going on with the seller since she responded to my emails promptly during the weekdays. The only other thing I can suggest is emailing her directly at bmwoemshop168@gmail.com and bypassing the eBay email interface. I suggest you note your eBay auction number and your eBay ID in the email. Good luck, and I hope she responds to your emails.

Its true, put it in the sun for a while and then stretch it out a bit with 2 people tugging on each end. It really does get a little bit longer.
