Hello everyone,

The family is planning on a road trip from Michigan to Texas and the car currently has 550 miles on it right now would this be bad during the break-in period? I'll be sure not to use cruise control so that I can at least vary the rpm...

And is there other alternatives to taping the front end with like a nose mask?

You will be fine. You could put a clearbra on your car, but its not cheap. There a spray that u can temporarily put on the car that protects the car. Suppose to wash off easily, but I've never used it. There is also a sock u can put over your hood that works well too. I've used it, but no protection for the bumper area.

I picked mine up from the dealer with 22 miles on the odometer and the next day, pointed it west for a cross country road trip and back. 14 days and 4,632 miles later, I was back home.

You are supposed to take it easy for the first 600 miles per the manual. It said don't floor it for the first 600 miles so you are all good there. When I bought the car I paid extra for the clear coat and clear bra. They installed clear bra on the front, side mirrors and under the door handles so rings don't scratch it up. They also put Mag Chloride protectant on the front grill and rims. They showed me what that stuff can do to the grill and I was sold.
