Risk losing tranny what to do?
Hey guys,
I recently been having the flashing D light for a while now, I recently got the P1717 CEL, I took the car to a shop to replace the neutral safety switch as that seems to be the causing issue, but we couldn't replace it because the bolt that holds the switch is so tight, technician was afraid it may break and result in having to rebuild the entire transmission. What would you guys do in this situation? I feel like the problem is getting worse now sometimes when I cold start the car and switch to Drive it will stay stuck in Neutral for a few seconds and then KICK into drive. I have an Acura TL 2010 SH-AWD 3.7 about 94,000 miles I had to rebuild the engine last year. probably the last Acura I buy, it's been very unreliable.
Thanks for your comments

The tech won't have to rebuild a trans if the bolt breaks, use a bolt extractor kit to get it out. Spray the bolt with some PB blaster to help it loosen. Did the mechanic check the slack/adjustment in the cable to the neutral safety switch/range switch before attempting to replace it?
P1717 is easy 1 hr fix.

that's ridiculous.. that's like breaking the oil drain bolt and then opting to replace the whole engine
