Replacing Key Fob Slot Holder
Hello everyone I just ordered my replacement key slot holder for my 2013 Acura TL with Tech Package and I知 wondering if I should replace it myself or have a dealer do the job. Is there any special key programming needed or is it just plug and play?

Dealer who sold me the car in attempt to repair it shoved pliers in it and ripped off the teeth that hold the key in the slot. I just discovered this nearly a year later.

It's been months since I put my FOB in the slot. I just keep it in my pocket. The only reason I put it in the slot a few months back was because the battery was dying and the HID was prompting me to put it in the slot due to the battery. Replaced the battery - haven't put it in since

First off a good set of auto trim pry tools should be a good help for removing the trim. It can be stiff at times but remembe to pull up and it値l snap off.
Start at the edges from bottom to the upper console.
Soon you値l be good to go! Now to remove the key slot.
Notice all my clips underneath the panel.
The key slot exposed.
You can pull off the push start button from the connector nothing bad will happen. Everything in the car will function normally.
There痴 two self tapping screws with a lock tight washer in the back be careful or you値l end up like I did having the pry the screws out. Make sure you have the proper screw driver so you don稚 strip screw heads.
Now put everything back to together. I started from the top to the bottom. Sadly I lost a screw in the upper corner due to the thread being stripped badly so I had to use only one screw which survived. Everything is pretty tight now that the panel rest on the slot. Eventually I値l replace the missing screw.

I took everything apart again and managed to put the clip like washer back in place. I even replaced the screw since it was stripped.

SMH that's annoying that they put ads on them. Get yourself some trim removal tools so you can pry the center console areas that have the keyfob slot alongside it. Be very gentle when removing the trim and make sure you push the retainer clip on the push start button so it releases from the trim. The 2 front facing screws should come off easy and it's plug and play from there.

My folks got a Tesla Model Y recently. It is very nice to drive. The Tl’s have higher quality interiors. Tesla’s are faster. I will keep a car with a clutch pedal until the day that my car drives me to work while I am sleeping 😴 💤

I understood you. I immediately stopped using it after I found out what it could break, a bunch of keys makes less sound if they are in the cup holder.

Key fob receptacle replacement
Hey man just wondering where did you order this part? Having major troubles locating this part for purchase, it has been discontinued in the factory, so i likely will need to get a salvaged one from a wrecker. Just wondering if theres anywhere that would have it still in stock??
Im in the same boat, key fob insert fkd up and held key first time ever, upon jimmying it out with some force busted a plastic piece inside and now the car thinks theres always a fob in it, therefore will not operate any of the keyless entry features nor can i lock/unlock my doors without the manual key.
Super thankful you posted about this issue , it doesnt seem to be super common. Any other help would be useful and greatly appreciated, thanks!
