Real world mpg?

In the real world I don’t do a lot of 0-60 or top speed performance runs with my 04 6-speed but I do fill it up. I get around 26 mpg in the city and mid 30’s highway. So realistically speaking what would a moderate driver get with an 09 standard or SH-AWD TL?

holy crap that's very good...i only get 20mpg overall but that's with pretty much 100% city driving ....what are your secrets?

Secrets? I try and time lights so that the car is always rolling. I also leave home and work earlier to avoid heavy traffic. I stay away from high speed highways. I keep a space cushion so I can change lanes if the traffic ahead is blocked. I try and keep the revs around 2,000 RPM's. Basically I try and drive smoothly and anticipate obstructions.

I have had a regular 3.2 3G TL and Type-S 3G and I average around 22 MPG, most of my driving is commutting, 18 miles each way, the MID says I ususally average 28-30MPH. Pure highway I can get about 28-29MPG+ on the Type-S and on the regular TL I could =get 30-32MPG. I am not a monster on the pedal, I use it when I have to, but basically treat is gentle most of the time. All of my 3G based TLs got around the same, I do find my current Tpe-S is getting about .5 MPG more than my old 3G Type-S, and the only thing different is on this one I switched from Chevron/Shell to exclusively Quick Trip Premium.

that all wheel drive and other features are going to consume extra gas- more friction of operating parts to overcome.
When I had a 4wd jeep- would remove the front driveshaft for normal driving to save lots of gas- and pop it back in for the fun times you drove too!

the new EPA test methods used for the window sticker mileage are much closer to real world, thats why they all dropped~

interesting...that's what I do most of the time anyways....

I got 29 mpg highway and that was rolling 80-90 mph with a brand new Nissian GTR in front of me yesterday for 100 miles. Even a couple of time rolling to 120 mph when he got on it. BTW...Nissian GTR are badass...fast ass cars. Amazing machines!!!

who knows what the GTR was getting but I think the 4G TL will def. get 24-26 hwy with the bump in engine size.

My 3G highway mpg is what I was most shocked by... on trips to Houston from Dallas and back, I get between 30-33 mpg. One time I got 34 mpg. City driving is usually arouns 22-23 mpg. Hopefully the new TL gets a bit better mileage than listed as well.
