Ready to purchase 2010 TL SH-AWD / Tech

I 'am ready to take the plunge this AM on a Grigio / Ebony 2010 TL SH-AWD /Tech, with splash guards for 37.7K + tax.
Any last minute advise? Is this a good price, or should I take it down to 37.5K.
How about the TTL is 1.2K for 7 years a deal?

TIA..........!

The $37.7 is decent, even good. Is $200 really holding you back?

No not really, but you need to get the best price as possible.

The best deal is when both parties walk away feeling good. If you look around, most of the prices posted on here are a bit above $38k. You've got a good price. Don't beat it to death.

Agreed....people will sweat a couple hundred on the purchase price. Then, turn right around and pay up to $700 for a doc fee.

BTW, no Doc. Fees here, part of the final price.

A car buyer should never shy away for getting the best price possible.
You as the buyer has nothing to lose if they said no. It is all bussines, and the salesperson understand it. If not, they shouldn't be in the wonderful field of sales.

Right on bro! I say go in there and tell them you'll do it right now for $37,500. $37,700 is still a really good price with the doc fee. BTW, are you trading in anything, and what part of the country are you in?

This morning I talked to the guy that runs an Acura dealership here...the General Manager. They have 5ea 6sp manuals in stock. He told me there is no way he could give my asking price of $37,500 (including doc fees), let alone my original asking price of $37,059. He did not believe anyone was getting a 2010 awd tech 6sp for these prices, despite what people are posting. I've pretty much given up hope here in the Midwest.

Oh well. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

No, there is no trading on this deal. I'm in the Northeast, don't want to say where since I know there some dealers watching this site.
But I soon as I finalize the deal I will summarized, and post some pictures.

I keep going back and forth between a G37x with Nav and Premium package that I can use the VPP discount at about $35,400.

Went to look at the TL SH AWD w/tech again yesterday. Dealer I've bought a couple of Acura's from said he would do $37,800. I'm OK with that price because he always throws in the winter mats and rubber trunk lining whenever I buy from him, as well as the minor stuff like the nice Acura key chain and first oil change for free. Problem there is, he doesn't have the color I want (basque red pearl with taupe interior). He said he'd get any color I want. But, depending on how far he would have to go, there might be an extra fee to get somebody to fetch it for me.

Plus, it's really hard to turn down that G37x at that price.

I like the seats better in the TL SH AWD, as I think they're more comfortable. I think the TL AWD handles better, too. But damn, that G37 is wicked fast and drives nicely, too.

Decisions....decisions!!!!!!!!

Both good choices at good prices. I was considering the G too.

If you're not stuck on the Red, try the TL 6MT. It really elevates the car to a higher level (remembering the 5AT is already a strong performer). The difference b/t the two is pretty striking.

Good luck.

jm....thanks! Both cars are really good. I've heard the 6MT TL bumps up the performance. Either I'm getting old or getting lazy, but I prefer my cars to have automatics these days. Even though the G has a 7 speed auto, I was able to catch it "flat footed" on both my test drives on two different Gs. In other words, I'd plant the accelerator down, and there was always a brief wait for what seemed to be the logic in the tranny to decide what to do.

No such problem with the TL and "only" 5 speeds. Plant the gas, and go.

Infiniti sales people say the G has an adaptive trans that will change as you drive it more. Maybe. But, none of my test drives were done in cars with more than about 20 miles on them. So, whatever "adapting" they were going to do, hadn't been learned yet.

That's a minor quibble though. The automatic G37x is still fast. Not that the TL is a slouch. But, you can tell it's a couple of tenths slower than the G just by my seat of the pants test drives of both.

Your buying decision is coming down to the same points as mine. Liked the G's engine performance and price. But liked the TL's interior, features and build quality/quality of materials better. And, dare I say it, I grew to like the TL's styling more. None of my Infiniti dealers had or seemed interested in getting the 6MT for me, so in the end it was easy. I'm very pleased with my decision. Whichever way you go, you won't go wrong.

JM...we do think alike. I think the G37 has nice materials and good build quality. I think the TL uses great materials and great build quality. Is it worth $2.5K-$3K more? Dunno! I do think resale on the TL will be a little better, though. And, the TL's seats seem to fit me better, to0 (at least the ones in the SH AWD tech package).

I like the TL's styling. To me, it's very masculine looking. I like its "edginess" vs the rather "organic" type of styling in the G37.

Was looking at the maintenance costs on the TL vs the G, too. While I'm sure you could get away with the 7,500 mile oil changes, Infiniti strongly suggests doing 3,500 mile oil changes for anything except driving highway, in moderate temps, year round. I think Acura's "maintenance minder" is probably more exact in when the TL needs service.

I was looking at the major service work for the G....say, 30K miles. Dealer was well over $1,000 for those types of services, which I think is way overpriced.

As you can tell, I'm leaning towards the TL. Just trying to justify the price differential. The TL SH AWD handles better, is more comfortable (for me). But, gives up a few tenths in acceleration (automatic) and a few thousand in the price differential.

Thanks for your comments. It's good to hear from those who had to make the same decision I'm going through.

Thank you so much for this discussion - this is so very helpful to me too! I have also been wondering about these two cars. I am also leaning towards the TL SH-AWD for its better and more spacious interior (OK, this is very subjective) and its probably better resale value.

I got mine for a little under $37.8k. And I got the TL SH AWD 6sp with HPT. I say offer what you want, worst they say is no. You'll love the car.

Ostrich....I keep asking myself "after 4 or 5 years, will I miss the 'better fit' of the TL?". And, don't know if it's just my perception, but I think the TL SH AWD has the edge in the handling dept.

Feature wise, they both come pretty well loaded up (optioned the way I'm looking at them). So, aside from a little difference here, a little difference there, I don't think one is more feature rich than the other.

I probably would have pulled the trigger on the TL SH AWD by now if anyone had the color combos I wanted (either CBP with umber, or BRP with taupe). Dealers around me seem to only order what I consider the same color schemes....silver/black, grey/black, black/black, white/black, etc. For me, those combos just don't "wow" me. Anything other than black interior seems to be something the dealers just don't want to carry. Or, when they get them in, some feel like I do, that black interior just doesn't "cut it", and they snap them up immediately.

Infiniti, on the other hand, has a bunch of stock. I prefer the wood trim in the G37. They're out there. They just aren't plentiful. Black over tan interior is what I'm looking for.

But, as most have said, can't go wrong with either car. If I find the TL color that I like, I'll probably get it. If not, at least not in the next couple of weeks, it will be a G for me.

$37.7k is a fantastic deal. I got mine for 1% over dealer invoice, which amounted to a total of $40,561 approximately including the destination charge. I've always said when I buy cars give me 1% over invoice then throw on any incentives and I'll buy it.

Great job on your part!!!
