Hey all.
I have been driving my certified pre-owned acura now for a lil while & had a few questions regarding the oil. ( pics/thread here)
Does Acura use synthetic or regular motor oil when selling or servicing the vehicle?
Is the oil life % within the "maintenance minder" based on synthetic or regular oil?
If the dealer doesn't use synthetic & you want to use that would you loose the "certification" due to more miles between oil change?
Thanks Everyone

^most synthetics are blends of conventional oil.
so, dont worry if its synthetic or not.
chances are its a mix.
the Maintenance minder does not know if its synthetic or conventional. it uses an algorithm based off of start ups, engine revs(RPM's) and other factors to determine oil life %
advances in oil chemistry make it possible to go 6k-10k mile oil change interval.
follow the maintenance minder!

Acura uses regular oil and to my knowledge the MM is based on this fact. You definitely would not lose the certification status by putting in synthetic oil...just make sure you use the right blend (5W-20 for SH-AWD...not sure if same for FWD).
I use synthetic just to be safe, but I also do my own oil changes so the increase in cost is minimal.
