Question for the pros???
Thought I would get TL users opinion on this as well as TSX owners.
I am looking at base 2010 TL or 2010 TSX V6, tch pck....
TL is at 5k miles for $31K or TSX at 8k miles for $33K.. Several of the two options around this price range. What are your thoughts on these two options? Adv/Dis to one over the other? Thanks for all your input.

I would agree with neither, for very little more (2k-3k) you can negotiate a great deal for a new one instead and take advantage of new car financing at .9% and 1.9% depending on your area for up to 60 months. Used car financing is usually more expensive and the monthly cost difference should be roughly the same but instead you have a brand new car, in some cases the new one could be cheaper with the lower rates.
If you are going in as a cash deal, unless they are willing to deal well off the used prices you posted than the new one is still better cause of the lack of mileage and depreciation. You may have to put up more now but you will get it back later.
But to answer your question anyway, the TSX seems like the better deal but again a lot of people are getting new ones for that kind of money. I say negotiate hard for a new one or get a much better price on the used.

I love my tl, but base is boring go with the tsx for now and if you gonna get used car intrest rate 8.9 for 33 k you better get brand new TL tech for 35 maximum with 0.9 financing,.

ok, the base TL will be a little more comfortable with a softer suspension. The TL will be a little quieter. The TSX V6 Tech may be a little sportier. I would probably take the TSX V6 Tech mainly because of the tech package, and the nose.

Ok I hear that... Decided on new, now the question is TSX V6 for 35,600 or base TL for 35,100??? No tech on either... Also do you all think at "new" these prices should be about a G lower or are they on target. TIA...

I had the same delima, i was looking at either new Base TL, or new TSX-V6 base. It was a matter of a few hundred bucks. Wife liked the look of the TSX, i felt more comfortable in the TL. TSX is nice, but looks exactly like my brother's 08 Accord Coupe. I also felt it to be alot smaller. I decided on TL, but ended up spending the extra cash for the Base SH-AWD.
Very happy with my choice!

If you live in Southern CA, the 2010 TL Base (non-NAV) can be had for $30K +TTL (I just bought one last month) The TSX V6 can be $1K more. You can't go wrong with either. Good Luck.

I would try to get invoice minus the incentive but worst case, especially under these market conditions, only split the incentive with the dealer in half but also from invoice. Some are getting it for even less but it depends on the area.
The TL tech invoice is $36,904, the non tech is $33,483. So you should look for around $31,700- $32,600 for the base and $34,600-$35,800 for the tech after incentives.
The TSX tech invoice is $36,092, the non tech is $33,294. After all or part incentive look for $32,000-$32,700 for the non tech and between $34,600-$35,300 for the tech.
The cost difference is very little between the TSX, and TL, it really comes down to personal preference between the two.

A few more data points for you to consider:
On 6/15/2010 I got a new 2010 FWD TL tech for $34,500. Another dealer offered $34,996. Prices are before tax, title, etc. The dealers must be really desperate if their only profit is $1,156 from dealer holdback and giving all or most of the factory-to-dealer incentive of $2,250 to the customer (when does this expire?).
If you're interested in the extended warranty: Just don't let the dealer's finance manager claw too much money from you. Mine quoted $2,535 for the AcuraCare 8 year/120,000 mile, which I knew I could get on-line for $1,500 from Saccucci Honda or $1,735 from his own parent company Bernardi Auto Group. He insisted these ext. warranty plans were different from his; he got defensive, but then finally quoted $1,735.
The car had 26 miles on the odometer, of which I drove maybe 6, if that makes a difference.
I believe it helped my negotiations somewhat when I reminded them that I bought a 1987 Legend (drove for 12 years, 202K miles) and a 2000 TL (drove for 10 years, 165K miles), both from their dealership, and that ALL service was done by them ($19K and $18K worth). I brought in two 1-inch thick folders of repair orders, hahaha.

i looked at a tsx v6 tech, and must say, its way over priced, and i wouldnt pay over 33k for this car...for 2k more, you can get a tl tech...and for a few grand more you can get a sh tech....i have heard the v6 tsx is hard to find as they didnt make many, and they are a hard sell for the dealer...so if you do find one, you might beable to steal it off them...good luck and let us know which way you end up going....

winstrolvtec - These invoice numbers are different than the MSRP numbers they are giving me. Saying that the TSX V6 is $35,8?? and TSX V6 Tech for $38,8??... The TL's (tech) are $38,835... First time buyer as you can see and I try to negotiate with invoice numbers and they keep pushing the MSRP and playing down the price from that. How do I go about working with the invoice numbers with incentives instead of MSRP? Thanks again. .

Look at Edmunds.com and TrueCar.com to get a good sense of 1) invoice price; 2) available incentives; and 3) the actual price people are paying.
Then you'll have a better idea of the number you should shoot for.

The invoice numbers I listed were from Edmunds.com. I recommend going there and sending out quote requests to all your local dealers. Usually interent managers handle this area and are a lot more agressive with their pricing. This will give you a starting point and you can even play them against each other or simply go to the one of your choice or the one who has your color combo and model preferences and tell them you will make a deal today but this is your price and don't budge. If they say no, tell them you WILL get it at this price elsewhere and if they change their mind they can call you.
You can use Cars.com to find out local inventory so you will be even better prepared with inventory options, dealer invoice and available incentives.
