Pulled the Trigger

I picked up my SH-AWD w/ Tech and did Huper Optik Ceramic Tint.

And how it looks in the semi-dark (ISO way too high for P&S)

Thoughts:
  • This is the first time I had a car tinted, I really like the look.
  • The brake handle is just fine.
  • This car grabs attention and I got compliments on its looks quite a bit...which I never really get in my P-cars. (so much for flying under the radar).
  • So far I am at about 18mpg in The City and about 24 mpg on the highway (rolling hills). Not bad...but not great. But I'll never understand how that P company gets 310 HP out of a 3.4 liter engine and rakes in 30mpg on the highway...out of a roadster (terrible cd)...an
  • Voice command isn't so bad, but it blows that I have to tag each of my contacts.
  • Traffic circles are fun with SH-AWD
  • Seats are awesome
  • The looks have really grown on me...
  • The grill is starting to grow on me (gag me)...
  • Time to ditch the front plate, fix the dealer's swirl marks, and get some XPel.

Excellent. I cannot believe how much the looks of the 4G TL have grown on me. And your color combo is my first choice for when the 6MT comes out. I can't wait.

I probably would have waited...but I needed a car now and my manual shifting cravings are satisfied elsewhere...so it is nice to have an automatic when stuck in the muck in the city. The big thing that has me hot for the 6mt is the suspension tuning...this car with a bit more aggressive suspension tuning could really be amazing. If they tune the SH-AWD to be a bit more aggressive in sending the power to the "out back" in corners then it could really be ready for some hooligan fun.

I wanted the polished metal at first, but now I am really glad I got black. Black cars show off my anal-retentive car care habits the most

Congratulations! Sharp looking car. I have to look into tinting the windows, but I don't think that they allow that around here. They catch you at State Inspection time. I know tinting is restricted in some way...

In PA, you can do 70% NET (meaning taking into account the part already absorbed by the Acura glass...) But sometimes there are loopholes (get a doctor to write a note).

My tint isn't so much for looks as it is for heat rejection. I went with the Huper Optik ceramic because it does well at that without interfering too much with nav/cellphone.

It is at higher RPM on the freeway than the TL...and weight isn't such an issue at a constant speed so much as Cd.

OK, so you do understand how the P company gets good gas mileage: Cd.

Frickin' sweet, welcome aboard! Might I suggest the splash guards and paint the grill and bumper pieces, it just looks sick with the blackout feel! I also have the side moldings which I love to break up the large doors and follows the contour of the mid line. I'm considering a tint this spring. Great choice!

Very nice, also the choice of tint is very nice; Huper Optik is the king of tints!

Well the Boxster and the TL are at about the same Cd...frontal area is different..but not enough to really explain the differences (~25%) in gas mileage

I got splash guards for cheap, those will go on this week.

I'm going to forego painting anything just yet. The next step will be a nice polishing to remove the dealer-accessory swirl marks followed by some Xpel.

Well, then that only leaves Direct Fuel Injection and the Doppelkupplungsgetriebe.

Okay the tint has just risen to top of my to-do list.

I like seeing all the black over blacks, it makes my umber a little more rare.... LOL

Those are fantastic pics BTW... I really think that there is a presence that the car has in the steel that pics will never capture.

Congrats!!!!

and huge margins....don't get me wrong...this is an awesome car...I just want my cake, and another cake, and I want to eat them both at the same time. Somehow two cakes at the same time involves a million dollars too. The kind of cakes that would allow me to eat them both.
