Pricing: has anyone paid 34K for base + tech?
It's the last day of the month, and salespeople are worried. ![Tongue](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
We've gotten our best prices from overstock.com, and the nearby dealer we'd like to work with has agreed to match their dealer network price.
Now -- down to the last few hours, we're 1K apart on her '05 3G trade-in. I think if we play hardball, we can have all of it. But I'm willing to share.![Drool](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/drool.gif)
So: the last number I saw in the new owner sign-in thread, a couple weeks ago, was still a few hundred higher. Anyone yet beaten 34K for tech? (Pure cash deal, central NJ, last day of month.)

The next project (assuming we get this) is finding an upgrade tire for the stock rims. It comes with Turanza EL400-2s. We were afflicted by the Turanza EL42 debacle on our last TL buy, and I think the other stock option, Michelin MXM4s, ride hard, are noisy, and don't grip enough. (But they last 50-60K). We finally got the 3G to good rubber last fall -- Bridgestone Pole Position RE960AS in 245/45-17 oversize.
The 4G comes with 245/50-17s, according to tirerack.com, but the Pole Positions don't have that size. Might have to go outside UHPAS.

Oops, I stand corrected.
The Turanza EL400-02s come on the base TL. Treadlife rating 260. In short -- it's the same sucky tire as the EL42s, 4 years ago; 20-25K miles, tops.
So I talked to the rep and he said, the tech package comes with upgraded rubber. It's the Michelin MXV4s. Ride hard, no grip, last a long time, as above.
But that's probably good enough. I was all set to buy Pilot Sport A/S Plus, but we'll deal with that soon enough.

it was Santa Monica Acura. i got the email quote from their internet sales manager, forgot the name. i have no idea about their inventory since i bought my car already when i received that email. but fwiw, there was a disclaimer that the price quote is only for the cars in stock.

OK! We got to the dealer at 7:45pm, last day of the month ... they had it detailed and gassed, ready to drive off. MY wife had the certificate of title in her bag. So it was "kismet".
Only thing is -- we decided to keep our 3G one last weekend. We've got 400+ miles of chores to put on, so it's one last farewell to a really nice car, and we'll pick up the new Monday morning. (Biggest reason to trade now is because of the deals they're doing, AND taking state sales tax as a direct credit against our federal taxes this year. I suspect after May, some of these discount numbers may not be as good.)
For anyone who cares: Open Road Acura, Rte 18 New Brunswick NJ, 732-238-3030, ask for Matteo Mannino (pronounced Matt-AY-oh). Check your overstock.com prices before you call.

Unless it's a used car how can you get the title when you buy it? Department of motor vehicle (or whatever name depending on your state) will generate and mail it to you a week or two later with the owner name on it.

We carried in the cert on the old one -- the 3G we're trading in. Yes, in NJ it takes a couple weeks for the DMV to mail the paper.

No prob.
We figured out this morning that between now and the last time we shopped this dealer (December), we saved 4.5K on the car, got an extra 2K on the trade, got the federal credit for the net state sales tax (1,400) ... and put an extra 10,000 miles on the 3G.
So that's a savings of 8-10 thousand, depending on how you figure the miles.
All for the same car. Literally: this one was on the dealer's lot on 9-30-08. (We'll immediately check for flatspotting on the tires, and bird #### etched into the paint.)
