Potential 2009 TL Deal - Thoughts?
This is my first post of what I hope to be many. I am looking to get out of my hot hatch days (current ride is an '09 MKV GTI) and get into a TL.
The dealer down the street from me has a '09 TL Tech with 18.3k in miles on it for $25,984. This is a CPO car and had been leased and serviced all at the dealer where it is on sale. I have looked at the KBB and TMV of this car and the asking price is below the prices those sites have listed. The deal almost seems to good to be true, so that is what makes me nervous. I looked over the car and didn't see anything wrong externally, but just a few little things on the inside that need cleaning.
My questions for you all are what should I be on the look out for in buying a CPO TL? How soon would I need to do any major maintenance? How long should stock tires last based on average wear? Should I get a car that is higher in mileage to save some money? 18k v 25k isnt a huge difference when you are going to drive a car for the next 7 years.

Welcome to the forum! Acura's are fairly bulletproof so a TL with that low mileage is barely broken in. The good thing about a CPO is that it eliminates any major repair concerns for the length of the warranty. I could possibily see you having to replace tires soon depending on the care given to the current ones. All that being said, the price is fair but if you play hard-to-get they may drop even lower or perhaps you can negotiate some accessories into the deal. Others will chime in in regards to your other questions I'm sure. Let us know how you do!

Sounds like about what I was finding on the Internet when I was looking last month. With it being a CPO I would think that you could extend the warranty if you wanted out to 7/100,000 with Acura. I honestly would say go for it if it is in good shape. Welcome to the forum as I am new also.

Obviously it depends on the quality of the tire but if you were to go with the OEM Michelins (FWD) you are looking at roughly $300 a tire. I had to replace one when I had my 08 but paid more because of my location and limited availability. Your best bet price-wise would be to check out the warehouse clubs like Sams (limited selection) and Tirerack.com (need a local installer). Sometimes you can find some great specials at Sears or a local tire dealer too.

Is there a vehicle history report with that car? Could have been in a serious accident they are not telling you about which will diminish the value. Carfax is not the most accurate, but it does help ease the mind.

Thank you for the interesting question and I will be following responses. I am looking at an 09 TL SHAWD for $27,900, which seems high to me considering it has 43K. Hope to get a few bucks for my modified 06 TL to bring cost down.

one thing to look for is if they have had the car on the lot for 2 or more months. the closer they get to three months the better, because after that, they send it off to auction. they'll be willing to make a deal at that point.
like they said above, play hard ball and try getting the salesman to talk to the sales manager a lot, and when he comes over, try negotiating with him more. we did that, pissed em off a bit, but they gave us free GAP insurance aswell.
