Either way, if the P0420 code is due to a sensor problem or too rich/lean of a fuel mixture due to some other issue, it's still likely to be there with HFPC's or PCD's. I personally prefer HFPC's (high flow pre-cats) because you don't get the weird exhaust smell, it helps reduce rasp and you can still pass emissions.
Do you know why you have the P0420 code? Do you suspect the stock cats are faulty?
