Are you sure it's Pennzoil Ultra Platinum? I've only seen Pennzoil Platinum at Walmart.

If you Google Pennzoil Ultra Platinum vs Mobil 1 the first result has a Blackstone's lab report.

The base oil is still a group III, same as Mobil so honestly it probably won't make that much of difference, but I personally prefer Pennzoil in the 25-40 price range.

I've also heard amsoil full synthetic is also a really good oil, any opinion on this oil?

Looks like they're finally starting to stock them in stores! I haven't seen any here locally yet, hopefully soon though.

Of course Amsoil is a good oil, but it's expensive at ~10-12 dollars a quart. For our cars it feels kind of overkill. I used to buy Redline for my old TL but I got tired of paying 65 dollars for an oil change (no labor, oil+filter only). If you have the disposable income though, more power to you.

Amsoil is fantastic.

Few problems though -

1. It's expensive as fuck, though you could extend your change interval to like 10k miles to even out the price difference.
2. Their dealer network is odd. Very few (if any) physical stores around you will stock it. You cannot just buy it online either. You need to be a member (~$50 a year?) to purchase it.

Honestly, for the difficulty to get it, I'd rather have a lower change interval and use easily accessible oil.

For those who have a KMart nearby, they are clearancing out Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 and 5W-20 5 quart jugs for $14.00, down from $34.99. I purchased all 6 that were in stock and I'm loaded up for a few years. Thought I'd share....
