Passenger Door Handle Question

Ok here it goes:-(
Had my TL for 5 days and then a deer jumped out and well banged up the headlamp, fender, destroyed the passenger door and part of the rear passenger door.

Needless to say i was quite upset.
Got the TL back from bodyshop and they did some great work. But now the issue i have is that the door handle on the passenger side does NOT sense my key fob or hand.

The button works thats about it.

Does this need to be "re-synced" to the keyless system or did the shop get a "non-tech" door handle?

It doesnt sound like anything is un plugged or loose. I havent yanked my door apart to look.

But any ideas or thoughts on this would be greatly appreaciated!!!

this forum has been a wealth of info and ideas!!!

thanks in advance gang!!

Hi,

I know this is an old post, but I'm having a similar problem. How did you fix this? Is there some sort of "resync" process? Or did parts actually have to be replaced?

Thanks!

If the button works to lock, then it's getting the signal just fine. You have to be in range of your key in order to use the button on the door handle to lock the car. If it's not unlocking, my guess would be a grounding issue, or a loose connection of some sort, but i'm just guessing here.

I know that if ur car is locked, and you have the key in range of the door, and u spray water on the handle the car will unlock as if you touched it.

hope that helps?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The button is dead too, so I'm guessing it's a messed up connection. Looked in the fuse box but none of the fuses are labeled for anything that sounds like the keyless receiver. Probably going to have to bring it in.

Sounds like the wiring to the door handle isn't plugged in properly.

Will need to open up the door panel to verify.
