Painting Front Grille

I know this subject has been beat to death, but come this Spring I really am considering painting the front grille on my wifes 2010 Acura TL.
The color is the WDP and not sure if I should paint the whole thing or just the beak. And I know everyone knows what part I'm talking about.
I think if I paint the whole grille leaving the Acura emblem chrome and the black mesh insert/backround it would look better than just painting the beak.
Thanks in advance for your input.

I painted just the beak on my car as i like the "v" to still stand out, I think it looks better than the whole front painted.

Did you have the dealer do it or an independant paint shop? If you don't mind me asking what did they charge you for just the beak? That's sounds pretty funny does'nt it?

I used to have a painted beak on my TL. It cost me about $200. To me, It looks better than the stock grill, but once the RJ grill came out, it was no contest.

I've seen a WDP TL with the whole grill painted and I thought it looked horrible. Just the beak is the way to do in my opinion.

They charged $200, Im sure if you bypassed the dealer and went directly to a good body shop you could save on that.

Yes the more I look at it I agree with you. I am only going to have the beak Painted.

Man they charged you that much to paint just the beak? I sure Connecticut body shops will charge that much. In that case I wonder if it would be worth just ordering one from these guys and I would still have the original grille?

Oh ya, I forgot to ask you did you have them do the whole job or did you take the grille of and bring it to them.
I think I would try taking the grille off myself and I think the beak part can be removed and have them paint it. That way it may be cheaper to have painted?

I just noticed that these guys offer the clear bra for an extra $35.00 which would probably be a good idea so it won't get chipped.

I had my beak painted to match the car as a condition of buying it. The dealer sent a replacement fascia off for that, and then swapped them a week later. I paid the dealer, they paid the body shop.

When you "order" from heel-toe you need to send them your grill. It's not $199 for a painted grill sent to you. You have to remove yours send to them, wait a month for it to come back. Or you can buy a new grill from the parts store, and send it to them.

Should have figured that. I won't be doing that so I guess I should stick to my original plan of taking the nose pc off and having it painted and call it a day.

Thanks

Smart move on your part. Too late for that. Didn't research the painted grille part of the equation till after the fact.

there are a few pictures in this thread of both the whole grill painted and only the beak. Might help you make a decision

I'm still on the fence myself on which parts I will paint

Thanks for that link. That relly shows me what both look like. I think I am going to just have the beak painted. If my car was a dark color like black, I would have the whole grill painted. But with the white, I think the beak only is the way to go and it won't break the bank $$$ to get it done.

I would paint just the beak and the rear piece( thats what I did). I also got the painted beak clear bra. That painted beak will be a bulls eye for hwy rocks. If you paint the surround as well then you will have to worry about paints chips on that as well, unless you can get that covered too. I think color as well as personal preference will determine what you will do. There are some nice pictures of both setups on this site. It helped me a lot to make up my mind, and I am glad I decided do what I did. To me the light colored cars look good when everything painted, and darker look well with just the beak. MY 2 cents.

Ya I was fooling around with the car this weekend and the beak is easy to take off. The whole grille is a little more involved.
How do you take the back piece off? Do you go from the trunk. I hope it doesn't involve taking the bumper cover off.

Lots of pics on that link above, but I am still undecided on just the beak or the whole grille. I think I should just fork out the cash for a ronjon grille, but I don't think my boyfriend will let me.

Has any one tried to paint the grille like the one in this pic(sorry abt the cheap mspaint trick)?

This looks better than painting the entire grille...but i am not sure on complexity of painting like this....

anyone tried like this?

What color is your car? I think just the beak painted looks good on white or lite colored cars where the whole grille painted looks good on the dark colors.

As for the Ronjon grille, I think it's too expensive and not sure about the fit on the car. It looks good, but you know it's not OEM. Just my !

That's different. Wonder if you had the side inserts/indents on both sides of the beak painted to match the black mess grille?
