Painted front grill

Question for those that have done it. On a 2012, did u take the bumper off, or could they do it with the bumper still on.

Just curious

if you are just painting the center trim where the acura goes.. you take the grill off then the center silver part off and just paint that.. never paint something like that on the car

Do u need to take off the bumper to get to the Center trim, the only video I've found is a 2013 one to remove the grill

Keep in mind these grille are not meant to be painted and the material used on them is not the best for paint to stick to. Anything sanded well enough will be paintable but the grilles will be more prone to rock chips. If any grooves are not sanded well the paint will separate in those areas easily so take your time and do it right. Just trying to give a heads up because grilles are expensive to replace it you are not happy with rock chips showing. And take it off the car to be painted or it will fail for sure.

He is definitely correct. Took me many times to get it right with the process I use. To turn this surface into a paintable surface.
