Paint Scratch Remover?

Well, it was bound to happen. At the supermarket last night, I got one of those "grocery cart" scratches on my rear bumper. Luckily there was no dent but the 3" scratch looks like it went right through the clear coat and into the base paint layer. I tried the "3M Scratch Remover" but it didn't work too well. Has anyone heard of "Fix It!" by Simoniz?.....I just saw it today on one of those TV infommercials. It comes in a pen-like device and supposedly you just apply it right over the scratch and it "magically" disappears! Has anyone used one of these? Too good to be true?

Take it to a _good_ detail shop. I stopped believing in magic long ago. BTW Santa isn't real either.

Well that just sucks ass, sorry to hear that. I thought that only happened in LA? No note obviously right? If that's the case it's good to know that people are inconsiderate nationwide. Do you have pics of it Pete? I have tons of light scratches on mine already that I'd like to buff out despite just getting a $200 detail. The last to wash my car was the dealer. :-( Let us know what products you use and how it comes out? As I'm typing this, there is a link here in the forum titled Car Paint Scratch Remover, Prestoelcoat.com Check that out, and good luck wit it.

I just ordered some "Quixx" scratch remover from Amazon.....got pretty good reviews. I'll let you know how it turns out. (This is the one thing that sucks with black-colored cars....every little crap shows)

Try drcolorchip.com. I used it on my WDP last weekend for some rock chips and they completely disappeared. It will work on scratches just like you described very well. Paint matches perfect.

Pete,
Definately let us know if you find something that works. In all of the years of car ownership I could never find anything that works.
If I see that damned Billy Mays "The As Seen On TV guy" advertise that scratch remover with the battery operated shoe polisher again, I'll kill someone!

sucks

Sorry to hear that Pete. During Xmas holidays, I was in a bar looking at my car and noticed a mini van trying to park. I thought she hit me so went and check, and noticed she had 2 tires on the sidewalk. She was drunk, checked my car that night but did not see anything. Morning after I saw a weak dent, which you will only notice it on a reflection.

Monday night went docs office and I parked in indoor garage, 6pm so garage was almost empty. Came back out and some stupid person in an audi station wagon, decided to park 5 inches away from my driver side. Now that is driver to driver. What an ass????. I had to get in via passanger. why would someone do something like that.

Well I'm somewhat glad I have body side moldings....they're nice and thick for a change (instead of those flat skinny ones in the past which looked like just decor). The moldings, though, sit kind of low on the door panel so I don't know how useful they'll really be.

They are much thicker than normal aren't they? The one's on my 05 TL were good but these much better.

Pete...I'm very sorry to hear about your car. If you get a chance, please try to post before and after pictures and let us know how Quixx works for you.

I bought this too =( WITH the friggin plug-in dust buster lol. God I'm such a sucker. My car was black, and that stuff worked as well as Peg Bundy on it.

I'm a strong believer in user reviews, if there are enough of them to gauge something accurately, so the Amazon product, as well as what is recommended on here, might do the trick.
