New to Site

Picked up a 2012 TL SH-AWD about 5 days ago and love it. I traded in my 2006 Trailblazer SS.

I'm new to the site and am curious about doing some mods.

A few questions:

1 - I want new wheels and like the Acura diamond cut. Is anyone selling their stock wheels and what are people getting for them? Need to recoop some cost if I go with those.

2 - Other than wheels, what is a good appearance mod to start with?

3 - Does a dyno tune on a stock TL get good gains, or should you add an intake and exhaust before?

Thanks for the help.

Check out the black market to see if anyone is selling their wheels (you can sell yours there also).

Some people install a rear window spoiler - or paint their grille. Check out the photo section for some ideas.

Don't waste your money on a dyno tune - it's unlikely they'll get anything more out of the car. Perhaps if you installed the full intake, J-pipe ,HFC, and exhaust THEN go get a tune you'll see nice improvements. But IIRC - there are no tunes for the 4G TL - it's already too efficient.

There are many threads on this topic - check out the Performance parts section.

Thanks. I like the underbody spoilers. Are they easy to install yourself?

Congrats and welcome! I'd also look into tinting the side and rear window with the maximum tint NY law will allow. Keeps out prying eyes, summer heat and enhances the look!

Welcome Tallman. Coming from the LS powered Trailblazer, you're definitely going to be looking for some more ponies.

The AWD car is apparently a PITA to dyno, so numbers are hard to come by.

Horsepower options right now are:

2 short ram intakes from Takeda and K&N (just noisemakers)
a throttle body spacer from P2R (minor gain, maybe)
some thermal intake gaskets from P2R (minor gain, maybe)
polished lower intake runners from P2R (adds some pep)
some PCDs (pre-cat deletes) (good gains)
HFPCS (high flow pre cats) (good gains)
J pipe (lower header assembly/collector) (good gains)
a longtube J pipe (gets rid of the 3rd cat with a straight pipe), (good gains)
Lightweight Crankshaft Pulley (debatable gains)
Catback Exhausts from XLR8 and ATLP (10-15 HP Gains)
Axleback Mufflers from Comptech (8-10 HP Gains)

Comptech has a supercharger in the works. It's been in the works for a long time though, but when released, expect something in the neighborhood of 50-60hp, 60-80 ft/lbs and $5000-$6000 cost.

I almost forgot....

TallmanTL,

There should be a PDF file on how to install it

i installed it myself.. where is what you need.

1. a friend.. im sure you can find one somewhere (forever alone)

2. know how to take apart your front and rear bumper. (there are pdf instructions on how to do it)

3. basic tools like flathead and positive head screw drivers.

4. dremel with a cutting blade or a sawzaw to cut rear bumper.

5. drill with certain size drill bits.

6. for an average person probably about 3-4 hours install.

i installed mines with 2 people within 2 hours.. it was pretty straight forward.
