New Owner and My Story: 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech 6MT
Hello Folks!
Just wanted to drop an official hello as a new owner! I just picked up my new Mayan Bronze/Umber this week and am loving it! I have been using this forum throughout my shopping period and have really enjoyed reading everyone's informative and entertaining posts - what a great community...Thank you all! Amongst other brands, I have owned several Honda/Acura products, including a couple Honda Civics, Acura Integra GSR, Honda S2000, and Honda CR-V. I can always count on finding great communities like this one amongst fellow Honda/Acura owners.
I had actually first driven the 2009 TL when I was helping my parents shop for a new car last year. I guess that is when the initial seed of desire became planted in my head. Then, when the 6MT arrived, I purposely stayed away from any dealership, knowing that a drive with that transmission (coupled with everything I read about it in the press) would probably lead to bad things for my wallet. However, as the long Boston winter began to set in, the seed in my head to upgrade my winter vehicle grew too large...so I took the plunge and went out to test drive the car...and as expected, driving the 6MT screwed me over As many have said in these forums, its truly a drug with severe addiction properties!
I had a great salesman who encouraged me to push the car on a couple of great twisty test drives. I was happy to oblige, and I think he may have regretted the twisty route after I got through with it (I probably should have warned him about my track time and biannual visits to the Dragon down in Tennessee), although that naturally helped him make the sale.
My subsequent cross-shopping of competition didn't lead me to anything with quite the complete package that the TL provided. So, I took advantage of the dealer having 4 6MTs on the lot and the $1K dealer cash to get the car for practically invoice.
With winter snow in full force here, I don't know when it will be clean again to take a worthy picture, but I will certainly post pictures when I can. In the meantime, thanks again to everyone for your great posts/information that helped in my purchase process!

Congratulations on the purchase. Another 6MT guy and another guy from the Boston area. You guys must be seeing 4G TL's frequently. The Mayan Bronze/Umber is a sexy color combo. I have the same in 5AT and people love it. Enjoy.

Congrats and welcome. The 6MT is truly a beast, mine has been a blast to drive in the snow. SH-AWD paired with some good winter tires and it's a tank in the snow. Which Acura dealer did you get it from?

Thanks for the welcoming posts! To answer the questions about where I purchased, I ended up at Acura Peabody since they showed the greatest quantity of 6MTs in stock at the time. I had a great time working with my salesman there, Peter Morrissey. Their brand new facility is pretty nice too!

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if those HPT models sit for a while on the sales lots...although I personally like the look of the factory 19" rims and wouldn't have minded picking up that package if my color had it... Then I would have just bought a second set of winter rims/tires.
I promise to post some pics if this snow ever stops here (snowing again today) and it gets warm enough to clean. Also, being a newbie here, it seems I can't post pics yet even if I had them...I guess there is like a 15 day waiting period for new members? Does that sound right?

Fly up there and offer them 40K for a 6-6 HPT. They'll counter with 40.7K. You'll say you know they're getting $1000 from Acura.
Pay $40K, and as your first act in your brand new TL...head south! :-)
They're probably beginning to pay interest on those HPT cars and they'd have to figure their savings on the payments into the offer you're making.
