New Owner of 2012 Base TL

Hello to all AZ members! I've been browsing these forums for almost two months and have finally bought a TL myself two days ago. I was looking for a 3.7 SHAWD but I got a killer deal on a 3.5 Base model so I ended up pulling the trigger on it.

To start off my modding I am getting tints done this weekend. I was hoping somebody could help guide me on where to get LED bulbs for a complete conversion for the car. Including switchbacks, interior, and reverse lights.

Also... How do I upload pictures?! (Noob question) lol

Thanks AZ!

Welcome and congratulations on the new car! You're in for much enjoyment

Many people on here will recommend iJDMToy for your LED needs...use the following link to determine bulb types before searching on iJDM:

https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/appli...s/lrgmain.aspx

(credit to potmilkz for showing me this site)

I currently have LED DRL, Switchbacks, Reverse Lights, Rear Turning Signals, and License plate. Makes a big difference on my black on black. Heads up - avoid trunk interior LEDs as some members have had some electrical issues.

As for uploading photos, use a site like Imgur or Photobucket, and preview your messages before you post them to ensure photos are showing correctly.

Welcome aboard if you have any questions, just ask.

Thanks for the feedback Lift3d_ .

So, I finally just saw my TL in person for the first time since buying it, and I've sort of lucked out. The windows have been tinted by the dealer; which i didn't notice before. Also, the interior lights sort of already have a bright white led look to it. So, i guess ill be ordering the switchbacks, reverse, and turn signal lights.

How easy is it to install the switchbacks? would i need to remove the bumper? haven't checked under the engine cover yet. Also, any suggestions on the fog lights? The headlights seem to be HID already.

I guess the first thing now to do is get a bodykit installed.

Welcome and word of advice from someone who has a base and installed the body kit and spoiler. Do the spoiler first then the body kit, the car looks really weird without a spoiler when the kit is installed.

I already found a bodykit painted and installed new for $1000. but i can hold off for about two weeks on that.

Any suggestions on where to get the trunk spoiler? also, reading through the forums… am i right that there are two different trunk spoilers for the TL?

Thanks for your input wreak.

$1000 installed is a great price so don't hold off and lose that opportunity just to follow my advice. I put the kit on first and quickly had the dealer install the spoiler a couple weeks later because I thought it looked really funny without it. You're correct about the difference in spoilers, the base uses a different spoiler than the tech model because the tech model has a hole for the rear camera.

You can find replica OEM looking TL spoilers on Ebay for fairly cheap but I just had my dealer install an OEM one. It wasn't cheap that way but I knew the quality and install would be perfect so I paid.

Here is a look at my build thread if you're interested.

Awesome news about your tint - first thing I did after buying mine was blow $400 CAD on ceramic tint and I am very happy with it.

A few points for you:

1) Make sure you get resistors for your rear turn signals, OR buy ones that have ones built in. Otherwise you will get hyperflash. If you buy from iJDM, and buy resistors, please note they don't include the self tapping wire splices. These are easily found at Home Depot/Lowes/Rona/Part Source/whatever american retailer you guys have for this stuff. You are looking for 18-14 gauge taps, try to get weatherproof if you can find them.

2) to install the switchbacks, I found the following guide helpful. You won't need to remove the bumper, just undo a 10mm bolt in front of the splashguard behind the bumper. If your car is lowered by chance, you will need jacks/stands for this.

https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-2009-2014-123/g-007-how-install-1157-switchbacks-4th-gen-tl-09-11-a-867595/

*** note that in this guide, he recommends 1157 bulbs for the switchbacks. This won't work for your 2012, you need to buy 3457 bulbs *** otherwise, all the instructions can be applied.

3) For fog lights, I know a few people that have gone with Morimoto HID fogs...JackieeeTL comes to mind. Heres a link someone posted today...

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/hid...l#.U4shkZRdUow

** please note that I have not done this, and cannot confirm whether this is the correct kit for you, just a starting point ***

4) Not sure if you have bought your aero kit yet, but this guy in the thread below is offering discounts to Acurazine members:

https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-2009-2014-123/summer-accessory-sale-sport-package-extra-cheap-779406/

Hope this info helps you! Feel free to ask for clarification if needed

Thanks for the info wreak.

I will wait to post pics until I install the lip kit. I am currently looking around eBay for the trunk and roof wing.

can anyone tell me of some ebay sellers they have bought their spoilers from?

here are two links for the spoilers i have seen (note that they are painted as well)

Trunk Wing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-2013-Acura-TL-Painted-Rear-Lip-Trunk-Spoiler-Factory-Style-Brand-NEW-/330918622032?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2012%7CMake%3AAcura%7CModel%3ATL&hash=item4d0c497350&vxp=mtr
Roof Wing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-DESIGN-PAINTED-ACURA-TL-4TH-GENERATON-K-TYPE-ROOF-SPOILER-2009-2014-/291061560922?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2012%7CMake%3AAcura%7CModel%3ATL&hash=item43c49ef65a&vxp=mtr
Seems as if the roof wing will be shipped from Taiwan, and I'm feeling really iffy on that. But reading through the forums i see Con5179 and a couple of other people have ordered from this seller. for around $80-90 it is seems to be definitely worth it.
