New to Acura previous Lexus owner :)

Just picked up a White/ Black TL w/ Tech earlier this week!

I used to have a IS350 and switching to FWD I thought was a bad thing, but the gas mileage improvement has been significant. I'm a full time photographer and will be using this car as a daily driving car, did I miss out on the AWD? I started having second thoughts after reading some threads and the majority of everyone here has AWD version.

Congrats and Welcome! That's my 2nd favorite color choice.

It's quite a price difference between the FWD and AWD, if I had to choose between tech and AWD I would always get tech - so i think you made the right decision there. If it's just a DD you may not "need" it. I'm in the New England area, so AWD was something I wanted for the snow and weather we get up here. But in reality the other reason was to whip around corners at high speed. That's fun too!

As a photographer, after your waiting period you should upload some photos!

FWD will be cheaper to operate, and you may be driving more in your profession than the average guy. It's also a bit roomier inside than AWD. Nice call on the tech.

Thanks guys! Yea, tech wasn't really an option, more like a mandatory option for me.

I make frequent trips to the desert. Anywhere between 3-4hrs each way depending on which one. Speaking of which, I will be shooting at the dry lakes in victorville this weekend, so I'll have some photos to post next week, models and car of course

So how do you like your Acura versus the Lexus? I own a Lexus, a little older model though - an IS300. My wife has an MDX and I'm really starting to feel like it's easier to become attached to an Acura product versus a Lexus. Like the Lexus is more of an appliance and the Acura has more of a soul, so to speak. I don't know, maybe it's just the IS300 being underpowered from the factory but I'm interested to hear what you think.

Lexus drives better, it was fully loaded with everything. Throttle response was sportier, gear shifting was smoother, over all better feel over the TL.

Interior wise, I obviously love the TL over the IS350; its much more refined with newer tech so that helps

Loving the better MPG of the TL, lexus was kinda horrible, max is 250-300 on a full tank street driving with 20% highway.

The TL I'll get a good 400 on a full tank! so definitely a step in the right direction

Isnt the IS built on the Toyota Corrola unit body? The TL is alot more vehicle for the money, I would consider a TSX V6 a lateral move from the IS350 as far as size goes but anything less than the GS as far as Lexus line is concerned doesnt really compare to the TL IMO.

Welcome aboard.

Actually the IS I believed is built on a chopped off GS platform.

I agree, the TL offers more for the money.

The only thing that bothers me is the torque steer on acceleration and freeway passing, the IS feels more responsive. Trade off is the TL gets me a good 100 more miles on a full fill up.

I don't think that is entirely the gas mileage. The gas tank in the 4G is huge compared to my 3G TL. Probably because it's the same tank as the AWD version, which in the city for me get's 17-18 MPG...

My IS had a 17.1 opposed to the TL 18.5 - mere gallon or so difference. So yea, TL gets better gas mileage

whiskyjar - Welcome to the new job of being the 4G official photographer! MUCH classier than the standard "chicks bent over on the hood" shot.

Looks awesome!

Stunning shots & models in portfolio! The B&W shots are especially good, awesome lighting.

What do you shoot? What do you use in your workflow, if you don't mind me asking?

These pics of yours make me want to buy a 4G TL so much more than those "Control is Power" ads from Acura! :-)

I think your pictures are terrific!!!!

Congrats on your purchase!

I agree! I came out of an IS350 before getting my TL SH-AWD Tech last fall. Even with the SH-AWD model, the IS350 feels far more responsive and quicker for passing/merging into traffic. The IS350 is probably one of the quicker ones in its class. But we have to remember the TL is a much heavier vehicle plus the five speed doesn't help either. However, you get AWD and more rear seat room in the TL SH-AWD for the price of a comparable equipped IS350.

Holy shit, those rims are clean as fuck - that panda look is dope. Any plans to throw on some tints? I have a white TLX too, with limo tints on the back, 35% on the front (lowest CA legal) and the black/white contrast looks super mean but subtle.
