Need a little pricing help...

Hi all: I'm being offered a 2011 TL AWD w/ Tech (had 5k miles, demo car) for $41k out the door. Is this a good price? From what I can tell by going through the TL owner sign-in thread, it seems about right. Others have paid more, some less. I attribute that to different regions and rebates going on. Also, I'm not sure how to valuate that 5k miles already driven. So, what do you all think?

I'm in Texas btw. Nothing is signed yet. I'm thinking if it is too much, rather than negotiate a lower price I can get them to give me an extended warranty. Yes? No? Thanks for your help. I'm new here and hopefully will be an actual TL owner soon.

Seems high to me. I bought a brand new 2010 AWD Tech at the end of 2010 when the 2011 models were already on the lot, for ~40.5K after TTL.

Assuming most of the cars purchased in the sign-in thread were new, they got their cars at the same price you'd be getting yours (in some cases cheaper), but w/o 5K miles already tacked on.

I paid $37.5k+tax out of the door. Brand new 2011 TL SH-AWD Tech. So your price is way too high.

I wouldn't do it.

Thanks for the welcome and your responses. Yes, I live it Texas. Taxes will be 8.25% and I'm not positive on the dealer fees and the like. The dealer and I just dealt in out the door pricing. Thank god we didn't finish the paperwork last night. I was on the "new car high" and was not thinking straight. I'll do more research and try to renegotiate or step away. Any other advice on proper pricing would be appreciated. As I said, I have no idea how to treat the 5k miles already on there...I guess like a used car.

Which dealer are you going to? I and a few others here deal with Sterling McCall. I know the GM there, if you need some help in that area.

$41K out the door isn't too bad... that is with no down ?

They consider that a dealer demo, usually. What was the price of the car?

Per Edmunds - as low as 0.9% financing plus $1000 manufacturer to dealer and $750 dealer bonus cash (not sure what this is).

i dunno.. i wouldnt do it. the price is not bad; BUT it is the older model ('12 adds 6th gear; better mileage and acceleration, and a host of body modifications that makes the car look better) and its also a demo w/5K miles, so it is a "used"car. just for your info, i paid $41K + taxes and fees for my 12 awd w/tech. so i would personally pay $2K more and get a new '12. good luck

EDIT: if you dont care about the changes to the '12, you should be able to negotiate a much better deal on this one. i would start at $38K OTD and they should take it

I went in to John Eagle this morning and effectively cancelled the deal. The manager, Troy, droopier the price to $40k otd and ask me to get back to him in the afternoon. I think I'll offer the 38k otd as suggested, but doubt they'll let it go. Sterling has a very limited stock right now on new 11s and wouldn't match the 41k.

I acstually like the 11 body over the new changes. Of course I like the 6at and better mileage of the 12 but don't have the extra 2k. Thanks for all the advice, this community is very helpful. Also, sorry for any typos. On phone and eating whataburger, first time...not a fan.

I think it's high. In 2010 when I was shopping around I was offered a 2010 Type SH fully loaded for $34k + TTL. The car had ~7k miles. Unfortunately they could only do 2.9% at the time so I passed and got new.

So is guess $38k otd would be the sweet spot. That would put the price around $35k + ttl for this TL with 5k miles on it. I'll get back to you all to report the results.

Thanks for the tip. Would it be proper to give Lee some of these prices for 2011 TL AWD Tech? I'm not sure what's allowed here. Also, I know that these are from different regions so prices can very, but there is one from Houston (last one listed) I can use as a local reference. Also, I can't believe SNJTL's price of $34,972, that sounds too low to be true, not doubting him/her, just saying that it's a nice price.

If it helps you with negotiating a better price I would be glad to email or fax you my finance sheet/sales receipt for the purchase. We also got the .9% financing that they had going on at that time on the 2011.

Stew - Thanks man, I'll try to give him a ring later in the afternoon. May not be able to get with him until the holiday weekend is over though.

SNJTL - That would be awesome. I'll PM you my email in two minutes. You're in NJ so I don't know how much weight they'll place on it, but worth something I'm sure.

Thanks for all the help guys. Joining this community (actually owning an Acura, current Honda owner) has now become a factor in deciding which car to buy. =)

I just bought the last new 2011 TL from John Eagle on Monday. When I went back on Wednesday to get tint and splash gaurds, the salesperson showed me the demo that just got in. I think the car is a CPO car. You might want to confirm with the dealer if it would qualify for the 0.9%. I think CPO's are 1.9 or 2.9%. Good luck with the purchase.

Thanks all

Thanks for all the help folks. I did not end up getting the TL, or a TL at all. I ended up with a Maxima. I just couldn't get the right price for a TL and Nissan gave me a deal I couldn't pass up so I jumped. I appreciate the responses though.

Tell you one thing, the Maxima forums are a ghost town compared to this forum. I hope it picks up because it's awesome to have a resource like acurazine to come to. Maybe I'll just stop by with my Maxima questions.

congrats; the maxima is a very nice car properly equipped. i actually was very close to signing on a fully loaded maxima but walked when they insulted me on my trade.. my biggest gripe is that i was spending close to $40K on a car than can be had for almost half of that and i couldnt see myself paying that much for a nissan honestly. and i really didnt like the cvt transmission; but other wise superb car and has options the TL doesnt (power sunshade, dvd playback).
