Ok - so picked up my car today. Checked out everything they did - and according to the work order - they just replaced the 3rd gear set - I'll grab the part number on the WO later tonight.

First impressions, 3rd gear definitely feels better/different. There is no more of the uncertanty - and during my drive to work i tried to make several shifts from 2-3-4-3, etc. Each time the feeling of shifting in 3rd was the same. Previously each time would feel different, either harsh or mushy.

Ok - 2nd part - Since they had my battery out doing the work, the ECU reset and when they tried to do the inspection this morning I was rejected because all the exhaust sensors were not in a ready state yet. So now I need to put on some miles over the next few days, bring it back next week to get my sticker.

So - almost done with this whole thing. I'll post back in a few weeks with another update if I notice anything different.

Good to hear the gear issue may be solved. Any thoughts on why this happened, quality control on the gears, etc?

There was a well known thread in the 3G section about the 3rd gear issue - it seems whatever manufacturing defect in the 3G carried over to the 4G is my guess.

So, it's been a week since i've had my car back. Everything is still working great. 3rd gear has never felt as good as it does now, even when i first got the car 2 years ago.

Weather has been cold and in the past that has caused more issues and yet things are still working great.

Hopefully it stays that way.
