Music to my ears?
Hey All. Im' new to this Acurazine Scene. Just picked up a 2010 TL SH AWD auto. Love the ride and what a deal. Had a couple of questions on mileage and exhaust? What kind of mileage did you start out with? My car only had 2700mi on it when I picked it up and it's nowhere near the reviews I read. Secondly, is this car supposed to have a throaty sound (like a toned down muscle car) when idling?

Congrats on your new purchase.
As for your second question, the answer is no. Simply because the TL is merely a V6 4-door sport sedan, it ain't in any form a V8 muscle car.

It should be pretty quiet when idling - even with my full exhaust it's not too loud. Are you saying your car DOES sound like a v8? Did you buy from a dealer or 3rd party? Did they mod it at all?
As for mileage - i had 13 miles when I got mine (but I bought new).

I just picked up a 2012 TL/SH-AWD Tech on Saturday and it isn't getting the epa rated mpg as stated on the sticker. I'm currently only getting 20-21 mpg on highway. If I remember correctly with my '09, it wasn't until around 20,000 miles that I started to get good mileage. I ended up getting 28.1 mpg over the last 20,000 before trading it in for the 2012. The '09 TL was a FWD and had 100k miles on it at trade in.

If you want really good mileage on a TL or any other modern car ease up on the throttle and use the cruise control. I was actually getting over 30 MPG on my drive up to the Bay Area from LA... until I hit hwy 1 and started racing TDI's that is.
