MPG has improved
Own a 2013 TL FWD with 15K miles. For the first 2 oil changes I've had my local dealer do the work and they were using a Valvoline synthetic blend (so they say) with a Honda OEM oil filter. With that oil and driving on the highway at 75MPH I was averaging 33MPG and also important to note I ONLY use Chevron premium fuel. This week I changed the oil myself and switched to Mobile 1 full synthetic 0W20 and a Bosch Distance Plus oil filter. Today I drove 75 miles also driving the entire trip at 75MPH and the car averaged 38.1MPG, I'm scratching my head thinking their couldn't be that much of a difference but it's true. Has anyone had this type of experience or could you share your perspective.

The MPG in my MDX dropped .5-1MPG after switching to Mobil 1 5W-20 High Mileage compared to the regular Dino oil the dealership was using.
It could also be that you got a better batch of fuel this time around

My 2012 TL fwd went from 32 mpg highway with Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20, and dropped to 29.5 with Mobil 1 0W20 full synthetic. Shell premium 93 octane both times. 78 mph.
38mpg is by far the highest I have ever hear for a TL. Would love to see a picture of your computer display. Can you supply it?

The first number in the designation of oil weight is its viscosity at a cold temperature. If my memory is correct it's at 32°F (0°C). The second number is the hot viscosity 212°F (100°C). Therefore for 0W20 and 5W20 weight oils their viscosity is statistically identical if the oil temperature is 100°C. In our TLs the oil probably runs in that neighborhood or maybe a little cooler. Lower viscosity oils require less horsepower to pump thereby decreasing fuel consumption. In the eyes of science your change in oil weight alone probably contributed little, if any, to your increase in hwy MPG. But 38 is very impressive. Sa-Wheat!

Tire pressure is set to factory recommendation of 32 PSI (always), using the OEM Michelins and I also drained and flushed my tranny with new Honda tranny oil. Using Chevron premium and most importantly I was smiling the entire drive into Disney, and which may have helped.

OP I don't believe that you're averaging 38mpg, the display probably needed more time to calculate your numbers. Its like when you first get a full tank of gas and the mpg goes all wonky giving incorrect numbers. Try taking another picture after you put another hundred miles on the car.

Yes, that would be the logical next step, confirming it with actual gallons consumed vs miles.
Would love to see that car actually getting that mileage.
Who needs a Prius?
Pretty rare to have one particular vehicle getting 15% better economy than any other ever listed on here ... but hey, miracles happen everyday.
