MDX Grill on 4G

Someone had posted a picture of an MDX-like grill on a 4G TL. I have searched the forums and can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where I might be able to locate this picture?

Thanks!

Big improvement, shame that people on an internet car forum can come up with that but the Acura design team can't.......

Type34:

The best looking 4G. The flow is perfect. And if they would make the rear of the car straight instead of that "Civic" style, it would the best looking car for the money and it would be ACURA STYLE - I mean ACURA TL.

I think that MDX grille looks KILLER on the 4G!! You think its possible to transplant?? How difficult do you think that would be??

I have to admit. That looks freakin AWESOME.

I would like to know what was the vote count for this grille vs. the "new beak". What a shame the 4G doesn't have that.

someone do us a favor - measure the dimensions of the MDX grill and the TL grill. That's really ALL you need to know. The rest (supports, paint, etc) can be custom'ed

I remember when people at first hated the MDX Grille. But I agree, that looks awesome.

For the hell of it, here are a few of my other takes (considering you guys seemed to have liked the MDX grille)...

This is how I envisioned the "beak" grille when I first saw it on the TSX, then the TL (IMO, it would be infinitely easier to swallow if it were in the center of the grille)

And here was one I played with...I was curious how much the beak grille made the 4G TL look different from the 3G...I added larger 3G wheels for effect...funny thing is, it looks much more like evolutionary styling than a radical departure...

The picture looks great, but IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE OLD TL with a relocation of the fog lights and turn signals. And also, you can see the old A-Spec in the reflection on the ground. Yall just need to embrace this change. lol

YES! This is what the grill should look like. A natural progression from their previous grill.

Not the stupid, gaudy shield that blinds birds and airplanes while landing.

RonJon is our best hope for now.
I wonder how hard it would be to make a grill yourself?
Or is a shop is willing to do it for you?

That is awesome, and what it should have looked like from the beginning.

I hope RonJon makes a grille like this so that people who don't want to pay the big $$ for a whole kit can still mod the grille.

Wow, I can't believe how much better that front end looks, get these photos over to Acura corporate!
I looked at the new TL yesterday, that beak up front kills me and the rear end looks exactly like a Camry, so disappointing.
I'm keeping my 08 TL until they do something with this car or until we can do something with the grill.

in another thread i said i looked at these last night and thought it could be swapped but when i looked at pictures i took at the dealer more i dont think it's a simple grille swap. this is because the tl grill curves at the top, and the curve is part of the grille, not the hood.

it does look like you could trim the tl grille down a bit and do some sanding/painting and insert the parts of the mdx grille. or just use some mesh and the A badge. there is definitely potential. once parts are available on the websites i bet we'll see some mods out there.

Resurrecting an old thread here. Even with the improvement in the beak for 2012, the grill is still my biggest issue with the 4th gen TL and I have always thought that the 07-09 MDX grill would look perfect. Somehow I just now stumbled on this thread and it made me very curious...

Has anyone done this?

Nice thread revival! 3 years later, i still think the mdx grille transplant looks the best (on paper). Would love to see this thing come to fruition!

So has no one tried this? Or looked into it? Do the dimensions work?

The MDX grill, without the background, is the RonJon grill.

Right, but I'm curious about the MDX grill with the shield background thingy. I like the RonJon grill, but it is a little empty for that large opening. I think the MDX grill would look better.

Corrected. It still is sexy. And I think it would look sexy on the 4G TL as well.

What completes the look is connecting the two lower grills across the bottom of the bumper. That's a tougher mod but tones down the pointy-ness of the front end.

ONow that is "HOT SH!T!!" I don't care for the Jon Ron or what's his name or the painted grilles, but damn! They way it flows is amazing.

First time run for production and there would of been no grille debate. How can I get that MOD? Hmmmm....

Agreed.

As for how to get that mod, I'm still wondering if it is as simple as purchasing an 07-09 MDX grill and installing it. I haven't measured, but dimensions appear to be pretty similar. I have an 08 MDX, so if someone wants me to measure, I can do that.

Here's one guy's suggestion for an exterior upgrade of the 4G. I think. Could be a tuner-MDX.
