In the market for a new Acura

My Acura TL got rear ended by a Toyota Tundra and the frame is most likely bent. This means I gotta get a new car. I was wondering if I should upgrade to the 4th Gen TL or if I should switch to a TSX. I had an iPod hook up installed in my TL. I haven't had a chance to hear the sound systems on either the 4th Gen TL or on the 1st Gen TSX. I'm looking for a nice bass.

If you are looking for a nice ass then stick with 3g. 3g TL has the best ass ever.

Why ask us on what you want?
if your main criteria in a car is sound, then it would behoove you to go check out some different cars with different sound systems.

My criteria would be different and driving experience would take presidence over a factory sound system...
6MT with SHAWD would push me for the 4G

all in all, its your decision.
so, get your ass into some cars and test drive them...

I find the ELS in my TL most excellent. I tore the original sound system out of my 3G TL because it sounded weak to me.

The 4G has ipod control intergrated. As ggesq said.. go drive one!

Doesn't sound like a test "drive" will suffice... Based on the op, sounds like all cars are equal and bass (love the pic reply above btw) is the differentiator. In which case, you should be able to construct an aftermarket system that is supeme compared to any factory setup on the market, regardless of the car you choose.

On this forum, it's SH-AWD 6MT ftw! Pretty sure nobody choses a Honda product for it's factory sound though.

Maybe a Leaf with a 15" subwoofer would suffice?

That's what sold me on it, though I broke all the rules when I made my purchase. Not only did I not test drive a TL, I never even sat in one! I bought it from across the country and I figured since I was coming from a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon...it was going to be an improvement in all areas. Fortunately I was right and haven't regretting the decision once!

OP, not sure what your definition of nice bass is but you'll likely never get it from any factory system. I'm a huge fan of the ELS in the TL but I still swapped the factory sub for a 12" JL Audio. I would definitely not base my car purchase decision on the sound of the stereo.

Samesies.

I had seen a TL about 4 years before I bought one. Never sat in it. Didn't test drive or visually inspect the car I bought.

Flew 2300 miles to buy it and drive it home.

I pre-ordered and bought mine sight unseen. I had not driven or sat in a 4G.... the rest is history

you guise knew what you wanted.

the OP, however, is looking for a sound system.

OP may want to check this model out. Not much power, but that sound system is badass!

I considered doing the same thing...flying from FL to Arizona and driving it back. Fortunately I got it shipped free of charge though and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived in an enclosed truck.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one to make a major purchase decision sight unseen, haha! Of course yours being brand new took away some of the risk. I figured since mine was CPO the risk was minimal.

Do not base your decision on the purchase of a 40 thousand dollar automobile strictly on the stereo. You can upgrade the stereo in any car for peanuts in the scheme of things.

Back to your question about the TL vs the TSX. Before I got my 12' TL I had a 05' TSX. It was a fantastic car but the 4G TL and the 1G TSX are two very different cars. If you have any questions on how the two cars compare feel free to ask away and I'd be glad to help.

That was my criteria as well...the driving experience. I test drove a used 6MT SH-AWD and knew it was the one I wanted. Everything else was icing on the cake. I negotiated without even seeing the actual car I wanted to buy. Just knew I wanted it in white and that it was new lol. They had silver moon and graphite luster too in 6MT but white is just a sexy and classy color IMO. If they didn't have that, I prolly would of went with silver moon.

The factory ELS sound system is fantastic BTW. And I thought the base SH-AWD sounded good to begin with.
