Lost Key....Help!
Ok. I have a 2010 Acura TL. Anyway I was shoveling snow this morning and I think I might have lost my key in the snow. Or lost it some where else. Not sure. Is there a way to deactivate that key so if someone found it they can't use it? Any ideas? Please help

Call a dealer and ask...Otherwise wait for a week of 50 degree temps.

Wasn't there a thread on here recently that asked what additions would you like to see to the TL. How about a key finder?
I always wondered the same. There should be a way you could locate the key if it's been misplaced or lost.
I wish they would do that with TV remotes as well. They have the pager button on hands free phones.
Ya I would call the dealer to see what they suggest, but I bet they will tell you that you need to buy a new key for $300.
Get the scoop and let us know what happens as I'm sure this will happen to other owners as well.

Not sure how Acura does it or if, but my friend owns an Infiniti and lost his key (In a parking lot brawl). He had to get an new set of keys and Infiniti reprogrammed his car so that the old keys would not work.

This is correct. There's two components to your key: 1) The electronic key fob 2) the manual key that is inserted into it.
The dealership cannot do anything about the manual key since that is a mechanical key that is mated to the locks in your car. The electronic portion of the key can be reprogrammed. The dealer will just reprogram your old keyfob (the one you still have) and a new one. Then they will cut you a replacement physical key that matches your VIN. Unfortunately you'll still have a physical key floating around out there from the lost key fob. This will cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $300.
