Looking at High Mileage 4th Gen 3.5 TL

Looking at a 4th Gen TL(3.5L) with high miles, like 250K.

Will check all the basics, along with history of timing belt, WP, transmission, fluids, service records, etc.

Anything else I should be looking at and paying attention to? Or should I stay away because of miles? Thx.

The most important thing is the condition of the car body, if a factory windshield is installed there, then at such a millage it should be in very poor condition. See how the headlights shine, complete burnout of the reflectors is possible. The same air conditioner radiator must be destroyed by stones .You also need a lift to see the condition of the suspension underneath, and you need an endoscope to see the condition of the cylinders and the level of oil consumption.

I thought the 3.5L has no oil consumption issue.

I'd say any engine with that many miles should be checked for excessive consumption.

The J35 does not really have issues unless it's a VCM variant or has been poorly maintained. I've seen some high mileage J35's leaking from the valve stem seals with carbon caked on the piston rings.

At a similar mileage, every engine, after poor maintenance, regardless of the manufacturer, will consume oil due to wear, this is a fact.
