Local news paper auto section
I called into my local paper today on this weekly contest they have where they show a part of a car and ask if you can guess it. So I did for today's post. It was a 2010 Acura TL.
The writer called me back and asked me if I knew anything about the car, so I told him yes, I drive a 2009 TL SH-AWD...we spoke for 15-20 minutes about the ride, handling, and you guessed it design. I removed my "power plenum" shield of bias on the grille, LOL! And was honest that the styling was controversial and polarizing, there I said it! He in turn said from what he's seeing over time is an acceptance to a radical change of the TL from it's 3G position to it's new slotting with the 4G. I agreed with him that the segment once slotted for the TL was turned over to the TSX which is smaller than the 3G TL, but blessed with it's Type-S power plant.
He stated that the move is bold because Acura sort of moved the TL into uncharted territory mainly due to it's size. We spoke on how the grill dilemma reminded us of the time when Subaru tried the Bugatti inspired grill on it's line. They changed it the next year. He said from what he's found out the style will run it's course with the usual model tweaks over the lifespan of the design.
I told him I enjoy my ride everyday. He replied, that I should because from what he's seen it's a solid quality vehicle.
