Leasing

Looking for a 09 TL Base Model.

Wanted some help please.

This is what I got today as a reference:

$700 due at signing (first payment + tax + tag)
$399 + tax for 36 months

10,000 miles a year (don't drive much).

Wanted to see if I have room for negotiation.

My S80 lease is up and Volvo is not bringing back the Sport Package

Thanks

These days, there is always room for negotiation . . . at least 12K miles and with tax rolled into the payment (depends on the tax % at your location)!!!

Are you really sure you want the base model? In my opinion, the TL just isn't fun at all without the Tech package...esp. if you're coming from a car like the S80. I think the price difference nowdays between the 2 models is really small and for all the stuff you get, it's definately worth it. (Plus, the resale value will be much better with the Tech package).

Agree 100%!!!

The difference in price is only about $2500 and you get a dizzying array of goodies with the tech package.
If you're not going to get it I really think you'd be better off in a Corolla.

They have a bunch of TLs with Tech Package and I asked about possible discounts. It is an option. Other than the price difference (and of course the tech option) the residual is lower on the TLs with tech. While I agree that the resale value might be higher, Honda Financial Services seems to be disagreeing. 61% for base model, and around 57% for the one with tech.

Thanks for the info.

I don't buy those numbers. Not at all. I think Acura is having a hard time moving base cars and is [essentially] trying to make them look more attractive by assigning a higher residual value to them. As to your situation, however, as the end user you may be able to get a great lease bargain on a base car. I just can't imagine why anyone would want to drive a base TL. In my mind, 75% of what makes the current TL so attractive is the compliment of goodies that you get when you check the "Tech" box.

They play with that number a little to move certain models. The real question is what will you be real happy driving for 36 months, becasue it is very difficult to sell out of a Honda lease and they don't allow lease swaps without you being accountable for the car even though you swapped it.

I agree with the other posts on this thread...get the tech package. What I find interesting is that in the 6 months that I was shopping, I never even saw a TL that didn't have the tech package. They must have been on the "overflow" lots, and now they are trying to move them to make way for the 2010 models.

Not disagreeing with anyone here about the Tech Package.

I am trying to keep it under $400 a month with $0 cap cost reduction. I know there is a $2,000 cash-to-dealer incentive for the TLs with Tech (as opposed to $1,000 for base model), but again, the AHFC residual for the Tech moves the needle to the upper 400s.

But one thing is for sure. Once the base model depletes, dealers will need to deal with the TLs Tech in stock.

Will continue researching, thanks.

Again, will you regret not getting tech in 6 months and having to live without it then for 30+ more months? In the end a few bucks a month to be really happy with the car you are driving?
