Just fell in love with the 4G
Well, I always said that the 4G lacked the "love at first sight" aspect as its predecessors, 3G and 2G, had but after looking at a completely decked out 4G today, I fell in love all over again with the TL It was base with the OEM body kit, OEM 19" optional wheels (boy did they look good on the TL). I think its time for me to drive up to my local Acura dealer to see whats what.
and no, I didnt ask him if he wanted his headlights/tail lights done

Wow, those wheels actually don't look too bad at all! I saw them under the optional factory options and I hated them like all of us did. But these actually fit in with the black of the car. I guess I'm not sure of how many other colors it would look good with though?

--- It's about time!!!--- that some of the 3G folks are seeing the Light....
JnC-- The 4G is a bad-ass car... i bought mine, before i even fell in love with it... because i knew, that in due time, i would love the car...
my though, i dont really like those wheels either --however, they do look AMAZING on PM (Silver)
I think the Factory 19" HPTs are the best.. i feel like a douschebag for not getting my car with the HPT/19" package... only $1k more... i just didnt want to be bothered with swapping wheels/tires just for the winter...
The SH-AWD 18"s are pretty nice too... too bad they've got the same ol' crappy MXM4 Tires

My co-worker also told me the Michelin MXM4 are bad. What exactly is so bad about them? My Passat from before had all season Michelin Pilot tires and I thought they were very good. They lasted forever, (Passat is not exactly performance car) and were very quiet.

^ the MXM4s actually arent "THAT" bad
Pros
1) Last Forever (40-50k)
2) Fairly Quiet
3) All Season
Cons
1) Soft
2) Poor Grip
3) Easily Bubble
4) EXPENSIVE!!
For a so-so tire, they range from like $220-$300 a tire!!! Id rather be sporting some Toyo Proxes 4 for cheaper.... they're a little noisier, but perform 20x better

Michelins are generally way overpriced for what they offer. The brands I prefer are Dunlop, Bridgestone, Toyo, Yokohamas, and Kumho. The Dunlop Direzza Star Spec HPT's recently got the highest marks in tire shoot-outs in MT and Car & Driver by delivering the best performance for less money....even besting the famous Michelin PS2's!

I think those wheels actually look good on CBP. The dark gray/black inserts go with the black, and the silver goes with the silver trim of the car.
I like the OEM rear a lot, the skirts are alright, but the front really needs something more.
My favorite wheels are the SH-AWD 18". I like how it appears as if each spoke is a large hook reaching out and locking in to the rim.
The MXM4s have decent wet traction imo, but the dry traction and cornering stability are mediocre at best. The sidewalls just feel so squishy. I prefer the hard sidewalls of Bridgestones for great cornering stability. It results in a lot of road noise, but it's worth the trade off to me.

the only thing the car is missing is AWD that is FWD car. The wheels look much better in person. But for the kind of money they want for them, i'll buy something else i like alot more.....

Just having the 19's and PS2's would leave you replacing them at around 20k miles, assuming you live in a warm climate and use them all year. That will likely cost you more money in the long run than getting two sets but it's cheaper initially. It works about the same the other way around too, if you buy it with 19's than get the 18's. I've seen them at $220 a piece but I like to keep extra costs out of the financing and the 19's will do better in resale.

PS2's do NOT last very long... and they MSRP at like $395 a tire in the 245/40/19 size
My mother (drives like me) has a CLK550 with PS2's on it... Rear tires went bald at 11k miles... (she may be 60, but drives like a maniac... hell, shes even drag raced me in my type-s, and demolished me)
But still, for only $1k more on the sticker price (which can still be negotiated down) ... they are the best bet
The thing about the 19/HPT combo is that its NOT an accesory, but a trim model of the vehicle.... when i was getting my SH-AWD, i denied the HPT's... but i didnt know it came with 19" wheels too!! otherwise, i would have jumped on it

The only problem I see with the HPT package is that it limits the color combinations (both interior and exterior). BTW the PS2's are not as expensive as people think. You can buy them at Costco for ~$300 a piece. Lifespan is short at ~20k miles

you can also get them on tire rack, for a shade over $300.. but they do come with a price MSRP of $400... even at $300, thats $1200 for a new set of rubber
Toyo Proxes 4, GREAT A/S UHP tires.... can be had for about $200 a tire... and they generally last about 30k.... just as good as the PS2, but a lot more road noise

Just bought my 3g about a month ago...Took it to the dealer for servicing and really got a good look at the 4g...you know...I am starting to like it...and the interior is killer...Not love at first sight like the 3g for me...but it's an Acura...I know it's badass!!

This car in Black looks so damn solid and clean. I usually have something against black cars for hiding the character lines of the car, but it works for the TL.
The brembo calipers would probably work, but you would need to do somethign about the brackets that hold the caliper in place, rotors are probably a different design.

My neighbour has the exact same car...same body kit and wheels but with some dark tint and the blacked out grill as well....looks killer. Those wheels are my faves but they do look pretty good in person. Although, I think a better design would've been to lose the black spokes and make the wheel slightly concave...that would look hawt!

Im starting to love the 4G too........ and the manual came out, im thinking about goin to a acura dealer soon to test drive it. But u know what will really bother me is if they come out wit a type S after i buy one. I would get soo pissed

If Acura/Honda were to follow their usual trends, there will be a 2012 Type-S .. and then a new body style in 2014.... again, just an assumption based on prior trends
