I'm a little excited, but not sure
According to this link...
http://autos.yahoo.com/acura/tl/2009...rformance.html
It states the 4G TL top speed is 150 mph. I know there isn't anywhere you can go that fast legally in the US...
But it's a good feeling to know your car can haul ass like that. I dont want this thread to get locked, but has anyone got there 4G TL anywhere near that??

I do not see why the TL with identical powertrain should not be as capable....

From this Honda Legend cockpit picture you can clearly see that the top speedo value is 260 km/h and not 240...

It is very normal for mass market US bound/US specs cars (even from European manufacturers) to be more aggressively speed limited than their European counterparts.
A sedan of the size of the RL and TL with 300+ HP, if you remove all speed governors (Euro or US), should be able to reach 260-270 km/h (160-170 mph)
Two of the cars I owned many many years ago when I was still living in Europe, the Audi 200 Quattro and the Alfa 164 V6 Turbo, a bit smaller and lighter sedans than the TL and RL but with only 200+ HP, were able to go already well over 240 km/h in magazine tests.

AFAIK most of the cars in Germany are (nowadays) locked up at 250km/h.
Most manufacturers want a little extra cash to remove the governor, e.g. Drivers Package for the BMW M5![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
There are of course exceptions, like I think Porsche, but we are talking Honda here...

Honda is considered almost a premium brand in Europe..some sort of "in between" like Volkswagen....to the probably horror of a lot of badge sensitive folks, the Honda Accord in Italy, in car magazines, is pitted against the 3 Series and the A4 (all with turbodiesel engines) and it comes out quite nicely....

You know the old saying that there are two things that men will lie about. Only one of them has to do with women, the other has to do with how fast they have driven.

So has anyone got their 4G TL up to or past 130mph? I see alot of Km/h talk on here. What is the formula to equate that to mph, so I know what yall talking about?

And IIRC the 4G TL AT has a top speed like 130ish. I believe the 6MT had a higher top speed - maybe like 150mph

Driving a car at or close to 150mph on the public roads is purely insane. Don't do it.

Good luck on the install EazyRider562, looking forward to pics after your done.
Driving on the autobaun has been a dream of mine since before I got my driver's license. But on some American highways there are some pretty good straight aways with trees dividing the highways where you can get up on it! I dont condone it, but lets be honest we all get that speed itch on a clean straight away.

I remember how I picked up my GF once in Frankfurt at the airport. Then I drove down the A5 to Heidelberg.
She almost crapped her pants once I reached let's say 230km/h.
I was used to it, since they actually teach you in driving school, how to drive fast. Not in particularly how to speed and drive over 200km/h , but they want you to experience it to make you a better, comfortable driver. It's like drinking as a teenager. You do it to see how it is, once you had your fast hangover you're done experiencing... (which doesn't mean you stop doing it
).
Best experience was between Stuttgart and Heilbronn on the A9: have you ever seen a Porsche-Testdriver on the Autobahn? I guess not![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I did, for a second. Imagine you drive >200km/h and someone passes you with >300km/h. That was impressive.

In my previous life, when I was living in Europe, I remember when I was driving my Audi 200 Quattro at well over 230 km/h (speedo) and happy as a kid with his new toy for driving such a machinery......suddenly I just saw a headlight flash at my back and a Ferrari Testarossa did pass me pretty much maxed out...I was barely able to tell the model....very noticeable pressure wave on my big Audi.....I will never forget it....
