Illuminated Door Sill Feeler Thread 09+ TL
 

Hey guys as you might now I am the original Maker of Custom Illluminated Door sills for the 3G TL. I was thinking about also doing them for the 4G and wanted to start this thread to poll your intrest. We have over 300 Sets sold on the 3G.

These are what BMW and Mercedes have had for years as a 700.00 option. A nice subtle glow when you open your car door with the Acura Logo Illuminated. Its a real nice touch and looks great.

I would have to get a set mocked up for some test fitments, I will post some of the pics from the 3G TL and you can see the thread here.

Sets would be about 205.00 Delivered Let me know your thoughts and if you would be intrested. Colors to choose from would be Blue, White and Red.

You would get 2 Front Sills and 2 Rear and what you need for the install.

I'm interested!! How hard is the install? And does it include instructions?

Will they be overlays like your 3G version?

I am interested depending on how they look, of course.

im also interested. and curious of they will be overlays or not.

They would be overlays made of a high end Alluminum they are there own sill but they work covering the original and there are many reasons for that. The fitment will look perfect as they belong there. They are now installed with a Rubber Epoxy and 3m Dual Sided tape for a perfect fit if both methods are used pluse the angle on the 4 g is a little easier then on the 3G. Install is not for a begginer. I recomend going to a radio shop if you have never played with electric before. The new Sills are done with LED and have a nice subtle light.

We would find a user to do a full DIY and do a mock up with a sample set.

Would need a list of 30 people before we could go into pre-production. In order to get on the list a deposit of 50.00 would need to be made if we decied to move forward.

I have over 300 Sets out there on 3G and I am sure you will be happy with what we come up with for the 4g.

I'd love to see pictures of the finished product before I commit myself to the upgrade. I'm very very interested though - it was one of the original "mods" I wanted to make when I got my car home

Can they replace the existing sill?

i think he already established that it goes over the existing sills..

its just taped on top from what he was saying..



also i guess you have to wire it up with your courtesy door light. shouldn't be that hard

im in for this as well.. dont want to make deposit if the product comes out all wacked and shiet..

Understood. The question is can they replace the existing door sills.

i had these on both my 3Gs... the light/durability and functioning was fine... the rear 3G sills had a nasty curve, which made these look a little awkward.

i think the 4G should be an easier mold to cut for the sills.

I already sent a set of Stock sills to my design Factory in Germany. Will see what they come up with. Look for an est if all goes well of 1st week in July.

price?

$205 delivered according to OP with $50 deposit. I just sent in my $50 deposit for a set of blue ones No one else wants these?

I would love a set but would prefer that it replace the door sills rather than overlay them. I will wait to see a set first.

we may never see a set if we don't get 30 peeps... *shrug*

I guess I'm interested in one even though I was halfway to getting a mockup made from a CNC company. This will save me time. I'll be making the deposit this Friday, Supercomputers.

2G tsx owner here. if someone wants to take pics of a 4g door sill and measure it and its the same as a 2G car we could buy sets too and help reach the 30. i am very, very interested.

It they are illuminated, you want need a feeler.

Are those overlays?

Yes they are they go ontop of your stock sills so stock sills are not ruined and the set could be removed if needed.

Have a stock set on the way to Germany so they can start Specing it. Hope to have some drawings soon. You can send a deposit to get your name on the list. Need at least 30 commited people before we go into production. Deposit is fully refundable if for any reason it does not happen.

They will be very similar to the 3g, They will fit the 4 G based on the 4G sill design and we will reproduce what is on the sill now to Glow. Same like on BMW and Mercedes

so the whole thing will be brushed metal look?

how about creating just an overlay for the acura logo that is brushed and not the whole thing?

or have the brushed metal section black instead of brushed metal.

I am totally onboard...how many so far? What is the LED color going to be? Blue to match the stock ambient lighting?

We are going to do Blue and WHite, Need a lot more commited People so spread the word. Our 3G sets are shipping again. So if guys are serious we can get it done soon. Sent a set out for mock up already should have some drawings soon.

We can start a list to guage inrest but I cant take the list serious until 50.00 deposits are in. I already have 3 deposits so far. Fully refundable if it does not happen.
