If you have splash guards, be careful!

I was slowly exiting a gas station today as I am extremely careful not to scrape anything under the car and while the car was going over the curb cut, I heard a loud scrape and then a pop. I thought the exhaust tips or muffler scraped the concrete but when I went to check out what happened, I saw that the corner of the front right splash guard had scraped the ground and this is the result:

I just removed the front splash guards to avoid something like this happening again. I'm just glad that the splash guard did not get ripped off the car.

WTF how did that happen? Did a screw fall out? Was there any damage to your car? And did you install them yourself? Wait, going over the curb cut? You mean going down the driveway right? Damn that thing is jacked up! That must be the result of snow and salting right? Dang, I feel for you guys in hard winter conditions.

Yeah I was going down the driveway (the sloped entrance/exit to the gas station) as you can see there is about a 1" tear and long cracks along the bottom. I did insall them myself as per the instructions. No screws fell out and the only thing I notice are some scuff marks (which I will try to remove today) on the paint on the car when the guard was forced backwards as the car was going foward.

All that dirt is from the snow and when I took the guard off, it was filled inside with dirt and sand and very dirty.

you should also remove the front bumper because sometimes you can scrape it if the driveway is steep and the road is flat.

I have an open exhaust for this very purpose.
