Ideas wanted from 2012 TL Owners

I am so excited that I will be upgrading my TSX to TL-SH-AWD next week....yeehaaa...

Now, I have changed one thing already before I take delivery of the car...i.e., Tires...I have ordered Continental ExtremeContact DWS to replace Goodyear Eagle RS-A as I live in Calgary, Alberta...and we get lots of snow.....and this decision is based on reviews re Eagles......

Now look wise, what is must have to make it look more aggressive and stylish....and ideas from people who have done it on their TL's ......

I am excited...so want to experience TL after TSX....hope I wont be disappointed for not going Infiniti G37X route....

well you live in the snow, so any lip kit or drop is elimated..

your best bet is to just upgrade lights..

If you have lots of snow in the winter, a set of dedicated snow tires is 100x better than even the best All-Season tires.

I totally agree with Edward'TLS.....but at the moment...I am just being lil' cheap...... by just ordering good all season.....as I was scared like anything about Goodyear Eagle RS-A.....were my fears overreaction......I mean, I can return the Conti's and get winters instead and keep Goodyear Eagle RS-A for summers......are (Goodyear Eagle RS-A) good tires?

@potmilkz.....which lights would you recommend for an upgrade? front ones...I am open to new ideas....as I like the 2012 looks but I would like to make it look prettier than what it is....yet do not play too much with basic charachter of the looks of the car....

I've got the stock Good Year Eagle RS-A on my 2010 Infiniti G37x, it has 30,000km on them, and the tread has about 60-70% left on them. I also used them in the winter last year, and they were fine. So my opinion may be subjective, but i think it's a good tire. Lets see how they play out this winter, i live in Ontario, so we get a fair bit of snow too. But so far so good with these tires.

Congrats on the purchase.

Try mud guards and the side body moldings, plus tint windows

my first mod was tint and it really changes the car - and is rather inexpensive. next week im installing the oem full lip kit.

this can work for you if you dont have to drive thru too much snow. of all the tls on here with the kit, my car without it looks plain.

you can order a roof spoiler off of ebay, painted and shipped for 85.00 - a good mod at a good price. congrats on upgrading to a TL!

Do what i did with my 12. I bought chrome plated light bulbs to replace the orange ones in the front and back. In the front, on top of the fog lights there are the turn signal ones. They are yellow. I changed those out to give it a clean look. The tail lights have been changed also.

HID fog lights, tint, little vanity lights inside the car.

you will need mud guards. maybe clear bra for paint protection.... but thats pretty much it..

If you've decided to buy winter tires, why not go all out and buy the stickiest summer tires for the summers.

Don't go for anything in between, ditch the RS-A's. Even the best All-Season tires are no match against high performance summer tires in the summer days.

You are spending so much money on a new car, and since you have snow+ice, I would urge you to consider dedicated snow tires to protect your new car and yourself. These Contis are great tires, but nowhere near snow tires.

Wow.....thanks so much for wonderful responses......though my list to do has swelled.......

I will look-it up to see the things that I can get with least effort + cost and gives me best look ...

Once again thank you...you guys are amazing....I just joined this forum and I am loving it already....

One more suggestion..........

Dealership is selling me 3M on front for $389.....I am in Calgary.....is it too much? I think so......in order to protect the front from rock chips.....what is the best bet?

They are also offering Rust Protectant System for $675 and also Gold something which protects the Front Windshield for $600 or something......

Based on your experience, do you recommend any of the above three?

Can you guide me where you bought your Chrome Plated light bulbs and turn signals as well.....I am sure it looks cool...and if I may ask how much would all this cost me...I am in Alberta, Canada.

Really...I went for Conti's based on a thread on this forum and also based on feedback of 1010tires, tirerack and discounttiredirect.com.....I hope dropping RS-A and going for other tires does give me better drive otherwise the money spent will be wasted...

You mentioned you have RS-A on Infiniti....which tires do you have on 2012 Acura TL?

3m on the front is an excellent way to protect against paint chips, scratches and the like.

from what i have heard. the "rust protectant system" is not worth the money. its just a wasteful add on for the stealership to make more $ as far as the windshield protectant...... never heard of it?

Would you suggest 3M on just hood or fenders and side mirrors as well?

I think alot of people will go ahead and also 3m the first 6-12 inches of hood, the whole front bumper, headlights, fogs, and the side mirrors. in the spring im gonna have my tint guy install 3m on those parts of my car. he said he is not even gonna try any 3m installs, until he attends the school for it. sounds like it takes some time to learn the correct way of doing it, profesionally. - is that even a word?????

Zalman, welcome to Acurazine!

--Tints are the best first mod.
--Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires will do you good
--get the entire nose and side mirror clear bra'd with the 3M, it seems like a good price
--no rust proofing needed
--you won't be sorry about your purchase (no Infiniti needed)

Just had a Continental Extreme Contact DWS blow on on my wife's TSX with no evidence of puncture or anything. Tire had less than 7,000 miles on it but was over a year old so Continental would do nothing for me. Sidewall blew out and mechanic could find no cause. Needless to say, I'll be sticking with Goodyears or Bridgestones moving forward.

Enjoy your new ride, and if you're in Canada I'd advise sticking to snow tires.

Debadging is also an easy mod and it makes your car look extra clean. Ive done it on all of my cars with some goo gone, dental floss, and a clean cloth. Its quick and you get immediate results.

Hey Man. I'm in Calgary too!
I bought another set of wheels for my winter tires. but thats just me.

For mods I did dark window tints and the side skirts only. Side skirts give the car a great lowering effect. it saved money off doing the front and back skirts since I am just leasing.

Hey I'm in Calgary too... got the 3m done but not at the dealer. I had an independent do bumper/hood/fenders/mirrors for not much more than you've been quoted. I also just put on dedicated Hankook i*cept winters on the stock rims and plan to swap them out each season for the stock tires. PM me if you'd like some contacts for the 3m or tires.

You can get it off amazon or any online retailer. Youll need an H11 HID kit. Most cheap kits are exactly the same, if you spend $30-100, $200+ are better quality.

I bought an $80 kit and it works fine but it would be best to install a relay if you want to do it right.
