Very sorry to hear that... hopefully everyone is OK. Maybe now it's time to upgrade to the RJ Grille? or the new Acura Sport Grille?

nobody got hurt, which is good and the other person suffering no damage, also good. i think i just hit the spare tire on her CRV so my hood took most of it.

bodyshop called in today and said aside from a few support pieces needing replacements there's no internal damage

yup i rear ended my friend's X5 sliding down a hill going about 3 mph just a few weeks ago with 9k on the odometer. my heart just sank. aweful feeling, even more so with a new car. 3k in damages, 250 dd and it looks new again, but i hate knowing it will be on the accident record when i try to sell it one day. good luck with everything

Since we're discussing accidents & body work, where are most people getting the repairs done? Are you taking the cars to the dealers or are you taking them to independant body shops.
Reason I ask is because with the cars being so new are there any concerns with quality of work and color matching?

i was going to go to my acura dealer's bodyshop but decided to go with that place my insurance place recommended. they work on all makes and models but most importantly they are mercedes-benz certified which meant something to me anyway, they did a great job.

I'd personally go with an independent body shop that I can trust.

I had scuffed the bottom driver side of my front bumper last year a few months after I got the car, got it repainted at Acura but my dealer doesnt have a 'body shop', they call in an outside guy to come in. I gotta say, the color match was fantastic and it cost me ~$250 to get it fixed.....what sucks is I just scuffed the passenger side last night so I'll be making another trip to the dealer next week.

just got the full info
hood grill and bumper damage
some support pieces damaged and a condenser replacement
$6,905.62........................
luckily insurance is taking care of it but still, out of a hit with maybe 10 mph difference. sigh*

i'm using a bodyshop near home that state farm recommended
it's a real professional looking shop with a big garage and lots of resources
my car is set to be back on the 12th

can't wait until then

Wow! That's quite a smash up. I'm sure an aluminium hood doesn't help any.

Hope the repair goes well.

I haven't had any big issue like that, but I've already been the victim of a hit and run (scraped paint on rear bumper corner) and I scraped a wheel against a metal culvert while parking. (The TL is a little bigger than the kind of car I usually drive.)

When you see my car, there's no doubt that it's driven. :-)

Hey BigBunks what body shop did you take your car? I am in CT too and I just figured out that your avatar picture is from Shaller Acura.

I was rear ended by someone about 3 weeks ago.... I can tell how much you miss you car especially when you drive a camry as a courtesy car and even worse..... you found out that thing may out of control any time... >___<

My car is a lease... and I called my dealer and asked them what can I do.....they suggest me to go to any body shop I want...... so I brought my car to craftsmen for repair..... one of the largest chain body shop in BC... total cost of parts (bumper and left and right tail pipe): ~CAN$2000 before tax.....

I took it to turnpike motors on the berlin tpke in newington. Great guys, very friendly and very professional work. Highly recommend them if you ever need a relaible body shop, hopefully you wont though.

Just a suggestion on insurance "recommended" body shops. Advocate for yourselves. Often, the reason that insurance companies "recommend" these shops is because they provide them with "incentives" to use aftermarket body parts instead of Acura OEM parts. INSIST on OEM parts, they are made to Acura's standards will fit better and will perform the same as the original parts in the event of another crash. Remember, insurance companies care about one thing and one thing only, THEIR BOTTOM LINE.

I would find an independent shop you trust that has no ties to any insurance company.
