I've been out of action for 3 weeks due to vacation (lovely two weeks in Hawaii) and long boring week long business trip/meeting. So I just logged in now and spent 2.5 hours catching up and I still have a long way to go.

The rental place ran out of small cars even though I reserved it. I ended up with a Dodge Charger. What a POS!!! But it was ok with fuel. Gas costs almost $4/gal for regular. I averted my eyes to the Premium price. Honestly didn't even look!

what island did you go to?

On oahu (Honolulu) costco premium is less than $4 a gallon. I know costco gas sucks but sad to say thats what my car gets cause of the price.

Actually what sucks more than the cost of gas about Hawaii is we only have ONE Acura dealership in the whole state. Neighbor islands have to ship their cars over from Oahu and get there cars serviced at honda dealerships and i guess for warranty they gotta ship the car back.

Oh and we dont get XM radio, weather, traffic and Zagat ratings here. (guess the weather part dont matter but would like the rest.)

I did better, got a Caliber, the throttle input for the AT employs fuzzy logic, so the response is completely unpredictable, one time it may pull out screaming at top of lungs, another it will just sit there.

Nice reminders of why it pays to make it to the middle of the social pyramid, then of course if you wanna have a bad day read the Robb Report to learn that some people rent a house with domestics for 1 week in Aspen for the value of your property

It was probably one of the top ones we've had in a while (Alaska and Egypt/Luxor are up there too ). We spent the entire 10 days on the Big Island at the Hilton Waikoloa. Totally free due to my Hilton points - bonus!

The island is so beautiful that we didn't want to leave. But then again isn't that true of anywhere in Hawaii? The volcano was pretty impressive and we drove up one night to Mauna Kea for star gazing. Saw Saturn with its rings for the first time and it blew up away.

I was on the lookout for an Acuras but saw none. Now I kind of know why with your other post about shipping from Oahu.

Oh sorry nice to know about the warranty and Zagat but really everytime i try looking it seems to go to California or some other state for near resturants ill try again.

If you're searching for Zagat only restaurants, it is just likely that there are more selections to choose from on the mainland (logical). If you did a "find nearest Japanese restaruant" search, you'll see some of the selections have the "Z" logo next to them.

Not likely, as they are somewhat unrelated systems. Acuralink comes through the XM carrier signal and thus there is no way to get it in HI. Critical recalls are done by mail so you shouldn't miss anything important.

Anyway, XM weather? LOL just look out the window or I can do it, "windward and mauka showers in the morning, clearing in the afternoon.... highs near 85, lows near 75, trade winds 10-12 mph" NavTraffic? I can do this too. " traffic will be heavy at the Middle street merge between 7-9:00 AM, and near Red Hill between 3-6:00PM"

Yes and no. You can go anywhere for general service (ie "you're paying"), but warranty (Acura pays) work must be done at the Acura store.
