I am Sad....
A couple of weekends ago, while driving around with my stereo turned off, I noticed that as soon as I would go above 35 mph, my car will make a noise. Like a cricket chirping. When I will gain speed to 45mph or above, the chirping noise will turn in to a gas leak from a tank, not from someone's behind mind you...
So, I thought may be one of the window wasnt rolled up all the way, may be the sunroof wasnt close properly, may be the door wasnt shut properly.... Nope... none of the above...
So I took my car to the Acura dealer this afternoon and the technician over there told me that this is the 3rd 2012 TL with SH-AWD with that kind of noise..... He said that he thinks that one of the three bearings of the drive-shafts gave in. I was shocked .... My car didnt even touch the 7000 miles marker yet, didnt even get its first oil change, didnt even get its wheel rotated... and now it will be hanging on the lift tomorrow morning before any of those "firsts"....
Why did you do this to me Acura!?!? Whyyyy?!?!??!
This made me sad.... I am going to a strip club, to make me "un-sad"....
I hope the tech is wrong, I hope he finds out a cricket stuck between the drive-shafts, hanging to its dear life, and chirping away.......

Not surprised, although it should be very close to the 15% oil life. Changed mine when it hit 15% around 7200 miles. Depending on what conditions the car is driven in, I've seen people go as longer before changing the oil here on AZ.

I am one of those who you are referring to - I recently changed my oil after having about 11000 km (~7000 miles) but it took me about 10 months to reach that point. I go with the service minder.

I got 6700 miles on my car and I just got oil change minder. Still got 15% of oil life left. Soon, it will be Mobil 1 EP mated to a K&N Oil Filter.....
Its not the cost, its just that my TL is already breaking down.... I would expect that from a BMW or a Cadi or a Merc, but not from Acura.
Oh well, I guess I will enjoy the MDX meanwhile...

Also a Canadian car, mine flashed the oil-change message merely at 5900km or 8 months' duration.

Stuff breaks - not much you can do about it. You're under warranty. I wouldn't worry too much about it

OP hopefully it isn't something serious, but like the others have stated, you have a warranty and the good thing about it is the problem will be taken care of now than later. I also wouldn't worry too much about it. Good luck on the repair!

So here is how I found out about the problem. After driving for about a mile from a cold start, whenever I will go above 40mph, my car will start making a hissing noise, like there was a gas leak from a punctured pipe. The noise will increase a bit on higher speed, but not too high. You wont be able to hear it if your stereo is on, but with stereo turned off, it is pretty noticeable.
So, all of you folks that bought a 2012 TL with SH-AWD, keep an ear up for that hissing noise. Not saying that every single TL has that problem, but who knows, may be you are the lucky one that got the TL with a faulty bearing, like me.
But all and all, my TL is back, and I am still loving it.....

What the hell my 2012 AWD TECH is at 2314 miles and my oil life is already at 15% and my reminder is saying service due soon should I be worried . The car is four months old

I'm guessing your daily drive is a short one...The software that determines oil life takes much more into account than mileage. If you have a lot of short trips in a city environment your oil life will drop faster compared to those who drive 20 miles to work every day.

Sorry to bring up an ooold thread, but thought this would make more sense instead of creating a new thread for the same issue. So, my car will be going to dealership this evening to get the propeller/drive shaft replaced, again.
The problem and the symptoms are exactly like they were about 3 years ago. Took in it and the technician told me, after a short ride, that its the propeller shaft once again. I asked him if that was normal, he said it isnt, but he did mention that another customer had it replaced three times. At least this one is only second one for me. Hopefully the latest batch will last me for ever, or get faulty within the next 3 years so that it can be replaced under warranty.
But no, seriously, Honda/Acura should look in to this issue more closely and seriously. Its not cool to get the propeller shaft been replaced every 3 years.
