2012 Acura TL SH-AWD TECH with automatic transmission sitting @ ~115k miles.

Replaced electronic power steering module at 70k miles.

Not too many mods except replaced most remaining incandescent bulbs with Sylvania Zevo bulbs (Just not the turn signals - don't want hyper flash).

Replaced timing belt at ~93k miles. Normal fluid changes including brake fluid, coolant, transfer case, rear diff often (I do all of my own maintenance so basically only pay for crush washers and fluid). Replaced spark plugs every 50k miles. Have been running the new NGK ruthenium spark plugs for a year or two now.

Some suspension work such as struts replaced but will be doing ball joint and wheel bearing replacements soon.

180k miles

Other than regular maintenance, had to replace the alternator at about 130k. Ran perfectly after.

My 2010 TL (SH-AWD Tech) that I bought in 2013 has 153,000 miles (117,000 our mine) and the only major thing done was to repair a main seal leak about 12,000 miles ago. It's like a Timex - keeps on ticking.

184000 right now with a short engine block replacement at 95000 under CPO warranty for oil consumption.

Other than standard maintenance and consumables, the only things that have broken are the master and slave clutch cylinders, AC compressor, starter motor, and just now, the alternator. This thing has been 98% reliable for me, considering I've only had to get towed twice for the clutch cylinders.

Even the springs and struts have been holding up this entire time. I just replaced them last week with Tein Street Advance Z coilovers just because i figured the suspension would fail soon and there are no OEM SH-AWD 6MT shocks available anymore. I kept my OEM shocks, and am thinking of refurbing them to resell...

Is there not a relay that can be purchased to replace to prevent the hyperflash? There was in my 2000 and I miss having switchbacks.

As I understand it, the older Acuras have individual (Replaceable..) turn signal relays but the TL 4Gs use computer controlled modules (Called MICUs, I think) to perform all of the various functions.

You can install resistors with LED turn signal bulbs to compensate but I don't want to go through all of that effort myself... Some Switchbacks say that have the load resistors built-in to compensate but I am not willing to roll the dice on that either.

2012 Advanced 3..5 Tech with 261,000 miles. Other than normal maintenance (oil, tires, brakes timing belt/waterpump), I have had to fix the following;

1) Door lock actuators, replaced all 4 once and the two front doors twice. Don't understand this. I turned off the auto lock and unlock feature at 80K miles and they still wore out. Why they wore out the second time could be installer error (me).
2) Alternator at ~150K miles
3) Rear bank camshaft at 200K miles. This is unusual for the 3.5's but not unheard of. I never had an oil issue and it still doesn't burn or leak oil. I believe this is due to a bad batch of cams that were not hardened correctly. It is more common in the 3.7's but they have twice as many exhaust lobes and oil issues. I had an exhaust lobe pit on me that created a significant knocking noise. Changed it myself along with the timing belt at 200K. If you can adjust the valves, you should be able to replace a cam. No special tools.
4) Transmission failed at 256K. Wouldn't shift into 3rd, got code P0776 and limp mode. This one hurt because I religiously changed my trans fluid (drain and fill) every other oil change. Had a local Transmission shop rebuild it for 3200$. Got a two year/30 K warranty with that. He told me an O-ring blew and couldn't build enough pressure to go into 3rd. It was not the torque converter issue.
5) Just replaced my HID bulbs, what. a pain to go through the fender liner.

Car is currently running great. Everything works, and I will probably drive it past 300K unless one of the computer systems goes down. Most of my miles are rural and highway miles.

2010 Acura TL Base 3.5L

Woops, hit enter instead of tab. I'm at 344,000 miles. Bought it at 23,000 on a lease return. My 4th Acura...my first was a '91 legend that went to 450K before my employer took off the left side with his F-350. Anyway, change timing belt/water pump every 90K with the Gates Powergrip Kit. Oil changes when computer tells me and always Mobil 1 with Mobil 1 filter....I don't burn or leak at all. Trans flush every timing belt and only fluid from Acura, about $10/qt, so about $120. Otherwise, just wearable parts, brakes, front struts (3rd set now), rear struts (2nd set), motor mounts twice, on 3rd set of axles, just changed front wheel bearings. Chipped with Thorton Power, now gettting about 330hp. Just rebuilt the entire front suspension at 337K when I had a ball joint break in my driveway.....thank goodness. Replaced rear suspension bars with the SPC performance kit, all 6 bars, makes it fully adjustable for alignment. New upper ball joints adjustable as well. Heading for 500K miles. Love this car, have NO problem just stomping on it. Have fun!!!
