High Mileage 2010 TL - should I buy?
As some of you may know I recently (like 3 weeks ago) bought a 2009 TL shawd for a great price. Great car, love it to death. So much so that I'm thinking of buying a second one.
I came across a 2010 shawd tech at my local Acura dealership. Looks very clean inside and out. I drove it, and it drove like a new car. But it has 150 000 km (92 000 miles). All the service was done at the dealership and they proved it with records. It was owned by one of the salesman there who I spoke with about the car. He said it was all highway as he was doing sales calls and what not and since he gets free service, he did all the service as recommended.
They are asking $16 500 Canadian dollars + TTL and they said they would replace the brakes and tires if I paid their asking. I'm already thinking this is a good price but haven't negotiated anything yet though.
My main concern is being able to drive this car for another 92 000 miles. You guys think it'll last that long with no major headaches?? I'm thinking that it will, considering that it's been babied thus far.

the problem with those high milage cars is that they do not offer warranty.... so even though it is fully functional and had no problems when you purchase it at 92k.. down the line maybe 20k-30k later you will have drive shaft issues, electronic issues etc.. those you will have to pay out of pocket.. now i am not sure if you are able to buy extended warranty or not.. deal seems good as it is serviced by their dealership.. but just be cautions.. if something goes wrong..you will be digging into your wallet to repair it.

So are you saying there will be or could be drive shaft issues? I'm not sure if anyone has had their TL shawd long enough to reach that mileage, but this is my first AWD car. The fact that the AWD system will fail does worry me.
I can buy extended waranty, yes. I'll speak with the dealer some more.

Well at least have them throw in the 105K-mile major service, along with new brakes and tires with that price.

So $17 500 for the car, new brakes/tires, extended waranty, and 105k service included.
I think I'm gonna do it. Gonna call my bank tomorrow and get the ball rolling.
Going to have 2 TLs!!!!!

I wonder what kind of warranty covers until 160K miles. You should ask for some written proof of what's covered (or not covered).
Good luck to you!

sure does, and a waste of money. Couldnt you have saved the money from both cars and buy a brand new S class or such. Well either way its your money but...I just purchased a 2010 FWD with 50k miles for 17000 single owner. SOOO I dont know if you're getting a good deal here.

Guys, give the OP a break. He never gave a reason for needing the 2nd car. Could be for a wife. Who knows until he opines further.
On the car... It most likely does have highway miles. At that speed its staying in the engines "sweet spot" 1700-2500rpm. There is no real strain on driveshaft from constantly flooring it an shifting at 6800rpm in the city 24/7 so I say get it. Let us see pictures so folks can help you bid a deal...

The point is; spend your money wisely.
You can't fit your multifold ladder in the trunk of a TL. Sometimes you just need the utility in a CUV.
