HID's on/off/on with doorlock?

I thought it was hard on HID headlights to turn on then off then on quickly? So if I leave the lights on auto and get out of the car and lock the doors, the HID's turn off then back on for the set amount of time that is stored in the MID. What's up with that?

Yeah, I have the same question.

Surely there must be some sort of work around?

you can go into the settings and change it

No it's totally stock, my wife drives it the most. I would like to modify it a little, but fear messing up the normal driveability. Although changing the uppipe probably would improve turbo spool. It does have a very small amount of lag, but once the turbo spools, it seems to pull pretty hard. I love surprising people with the "granny mobile", definitely a sleeper.

Did you change yours? and if so, did it improve driveability?

Yeah, I changed it to off, but I like the lights to stay on while I walk away or down the driveway.

I could really care less about the bulbs, just curious why they set it up that way?

I think a better way would be to have the parking lights turn on when you unlock, and the HID's to turn on when you take the car out of park, or into drive. I mean.. lights are great, but what if i just need to grab something from my car?

For now, i'm just using the light switch knob. I'm not sure what acura's logic was here.

If you can have it set to Auto but not have the HID come on when you touch the door handle, then I will look into that.

I enjoy the Auto function very much, but it's a little silly to open the passenger door to put my computer and other material in the car, have the lights go out while I'm doing that, and then have the lights go on again when I open the driver door.

Hell, what do I care. It's covered by the 125,000 mile warranty, so it's their problem.

Bwaaaa ha ha ha ha ha

No, seriously, I'll try to change it.

I think you answered your own question.
