HELP!!! What should I pay for the TL SH AWD
#41
I found one that has 1500 miles on it.. brand new still so they claim because the owners wife drove for a month or so and brought it back... I went back and forth on the price with it... they offered it to me for $39,000 they originallyt started at 44K otd w/ fees i told them they could go where the sun doesnt shine...

AcuraGoddess, are you trading something in? If not, I think you need to take the advice already offered and look outside of AZ. $39,000 for what is essentially a used car is absolutely ridiculous when others are paying $37,000 to $37,500 for brand new. Take some time this afternoon to email a couple dealerships outside your area just to see what kind of offers you can get. You can always take these back to your local dealer and see if that will help persuade them to move on their price. Otherwise take a couple hundred bucks, book a flight and grab a cab to the airport. The dealership that is selling you the car will be more then happy to pick you up and get you on your way in your brand new car. Enjoy the drive home and the couple extra grand in your pocket.

okay.. well heres the deal.. I got the car last night.., I had my second thoughts plus they wont be able to approve me unless I have my other car sold.. so I m just gonna bring it back to them.. i guess

They can put whatever technical term they want on it, the fact is someone used it as their daily driver for a month, it's a used car. If you want to call it a demo that's fine but either way, it's still used in my opinion. And what to do now, stop fixating on this dealership/car and look else where. They have obviously seen you coming and know you're going to pay whatever they ask and hit you up for countless add-ons in the financing process.

I feel strongly both ways
Let's see if we can make this as clear as day: YOU CAN GET THIS CAR FOR ~$37,750 BEFORE TAXES AND NUISANCE FEES!!!
Which part of this don't you get???

I feel strongly both ways
- Be sure that price includes destination.
- Get them to spell out exactly what any other fees apply.
- When you have a deal, have them email it to you in writing with every cost spelled out in detail before you go out there to pick it up.
- Ask them to pick you up at the airport..they may be willing to do this as a courtesy.
Now do you see what everyone was saying about that other shitbag who was trying to sell you a used car for $2000 more than you could get a brand new one for?
Have a ball on the drive home!!!

This is sounding much better now, just please follow what Doc said above before flying out there. Also, you can take this email/fax deal to your local dealer and see if they will at the very least match it. If it were me I would make them throw in some extras at that cost just for making you do the extra leg work. And whatever you do, don't let them say "We'll match it + 500 that you'd pay in airfare and gas to go pick that one up." The fact is they had a chance to make this deal to start with and instead tried to take advantage. Give the other dealership your business if AZ isn't willing to throw something in now. Congrats and keep us updated…

So we went with the Palladium with the taupe interior. Great color combo.

There is a 2,000 $ marketing support on the 2009 Acura TL. At least in my area, the marketing support may be different depending upon the area. I bought a 2009 TL w/Tech FWD in May 2009 for 33,999 which included the 2,000.
The car is great, I traded in a 2006 Acura TL which was a very good car, but no comparison to the 2009 TL.
The 2,000 incentive is good information to have when you go to the dealer, they may or may not mention this.

I hate how people try to lie to you to get your money grr..But I feel alot better now since I know I am getting a good deal and best of all I got the color interior I really wanted EBONY with White Diamond exterior.. I don't live in AZ but I'm pretty sure the dealer is correct on the tax thing. You will pay AZ state taxes and licensing fee when you register the vehicle. But you do not pay CA taxes on top of this. I buy my vehicles from out of state all the time and this is how it works in NE.

well I am paying $37,300 + fees so I am only paying $37,300? is what your saying? then when I register my car in AZ i will pay sales tax there?

In order to avoid paying CA sales tax, you'll need to have the car shipped/trucked back to Arizona. You won't be able to just hope in and drive it back. Unless you worked out something with the dealership.
Might want to confirm before flying out there.

it's a car-drive it
wouldn't the dealer in Ca place an in-transit temporary paper plate on the car so it can be driven back to the resident's state. They then have so many days to get the car properly registered and then they pay the states tax and registration fees. I live in NC, bought my car in PA, drove it home. It had a thirty day in-transit temporary paper plate. I did not pay Pa sales tax.

I live in Washington state. So I could then buy a car in Oregon (no sales tax in OR), save on the 9% WA sales tax, and drive it back home, right? Nope, not unless I want to subject myself to tax evasion.
Taxes are usually assessed in the state where the car is initially registered. So if a Californian purchases a car in Oregon, he or she will have to pay sales tax when registering the car in their home state. In your case, you should not be paying the sales tax of CA, but rather AZ.
Buying a car and t-shirt are two very different purchasing scenarios. You might want to check with the AZ Dept of Licensing.

I would just pay the AZ tax even if it is a little more, sounds sneaky and I dont know the whole extent of how this works but at least I would avoid possibly getting screwed over and having to pay twice.
People have had problems then getting their car registered in their residing state, others say they got credited for what they paid out of state, so no matter what you will probably pay the amount of the AZ tax in one way or another. State and county laws may vary.

Some states have a reciprocating sales tax arrangement with other states. When I bought my car in OH I had the option of paying sales tax in OH or just do it when I registered my car in PA (I chose the latter). If you have the option, just pay it when you get home and register it in AZ. That will take some time as they will need to send you the title first so a few more weeks of the money in your account. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY SALES TAX IN CA!!!! You should call AAA in your area to find out the details. I realize CA is it's own country to some degree, but the rules of sales tax applies to where you live.

If it's anything like the purchase of jewelry or high end art, you have to have it delivered to your state if you buy it in another state in order to dodge that state's sales tax. If you take posession of it in the state in which it's purchased, you're bound to pay the sales tax of that state. Many people have been prosecuted for tax fraud for having very expensive items purchased in NY (for example) shipped to some P.O Box in NJ just to avoid NY sales tax.
So tread very carefully on this one. I'd call the Attny. General's office of the state you plan on purchasing the vehicle in and explain the situation and ask them for guidance. then I'd call the Attny. General's office in my home state and ask the same questions.

Nope, you pay your states sales tax. Similar scenario here. I bought my car in Virginia and had to pay the sales tax in my home state (NY), and you pay that tax when you register the car. Temporary transfer tags should be given to you in order to get back to Arizona.
