Only tint film I'd ever recommend is 3M Venturshield, not trying to bad mouth some of the products that are available right now but I have noticed that adhesives from most of the other films offered on the market react with the front lenses of the headlights and cause spider webbing damage through out.

You'll see small cracks through out the lens which can not be fixed.

Here is a picture showing what I am talking about.

Yes you can but usually by that time its too late as the film will come off but the cracks wont.

^ you are better off having JnC customize your headlights, or doing it yourself. i do not believe in headlight tint. reduces output significantly and causes damage like JnC mentioned

Wait...I'm confused. The film is causing the cracks? This looks like the front end of an F-150 that grandpa drove through a locust swarm. That's from the film?

I have heard of Lamin-x and actually bought some of their film for my foglight lens. Have not yet installed it so I can't comment on the effectiveness or the detriment of using it. However, there are a couple of Acuraziners that have bought the film for their taillight lens. Don't recall who they are at the moment, but with any luck at all they will read this thread and respond.

i've used Lamin-x. I applied tint to the rear bumper reflectors on the rear bumper of my wife's 2010 TL and clear on the front signal and fog lights and it appears to be holding up well. I also put them on my daughters 03 Maxima fog lights.
I did the fronts witrh clear more for protection than anything else as fog light lense replacement can get expensive.
Sounds like you want to tint the headlights which is up to you. Give it a shot and see how it works out. Your still going to have to keep up with maintenacnce as it's still gets dirty no matter what.
I bought this stuff called Nu Finish Scratch remover that works great on headlights and clears them up real nice.
As for the cracks in the above headlights, I think that is more of a aging process as I don't see how the flim would cause spider cracks like that.

: Yup, I am not sure what make the film was but this isnt the first lens I have seen with this sort of damage.

The film itself is fine, its the glue that reacts to the plastic front lens.

I am not trying to bad mouth any ones product, as stated earlier, use the product at your own discretion.

It just happens to be that I see a different set of headlight every day to work on and I come across this issue on both new and old headlights and the common denominator and all situation has been the headlight film. If you put two chemically produced products together ( headlight film/glue with the headlight lens) it might just happen that those two chemicals may not get along and cause this issue .

I guess 3M, being that the company it is, has invested in thorough testing and procedures to produce a product that would not cause this issue, hence I vote for ventureshield and nothing else .

Interesting. Thank you. Some sort of chemical reaction no doubt.
