Question Hard Shifts 2012 TL SH-AWD

hi all,

pround new owner of 2012 TL-SHAWD, Black on Umber, just hit 1,000 KM's (600 miles); absolutely love it !

First time Acura owner, so have a quick question about the automatic transmission, let me know if it's normal to "feel" the gears downshifting as i'm slowing down?

tks

It's the acura way!

You won't find "lexus-like" buttery shifts with a "breath" in between each shift to soften the feel of each shift. Honda/acura transmissions, even the new 6 speed auto, all will have direct shift feel.

I rarely feel mine. I dont have AWD but i do drive in the city sometimes. I think its when it kicks in during acceleration while slowing down. Like when approaching a red light and then right before you stop it changes to green.

It does that normally. I think you would feel it less in D. are you in Sports mode when you feel it?

The lower gear kickdowns are very noticeable in this car, much more-so than in the 2g or 3g. I suspect it's the rotational assemblies associated with the AWD engagement; but I've not driven a FWD 4G. It's normal - you'll get used to it, and might even find you like having it wound up that tight down low; quick on the power and quick to the sweet spot of the powerband.

I would sure like to but the state police in Illinois are using motorcycles for chase on I80 West of LaSalle after being flagged by the radar car. I saw two stopped on a return from Bettendorf, Iowa. Beware, Illinoisans.
