Good deal on a 2012 TL Advanced Package?
I am in the process of negotiating on a 2012 TL Advanced package with my local dealership. It is a CPO, 35K miles. It was listed at 26000, and I got them to 23500. Is this a good deal? I am coming from an 06 RL, which I loved, but am starting to get into the repairs stage of the car, and wanted something a bit more sporty and modern.
Any issues\complaints with the 2012 FWD Advanced TL?
Thanks for your feedback.

Pulled the trigger on the 2012 TL CPO from my local dealer. I did look for some AWD models, but all were south of the border in Mass, and since NH doesn't have sales tax, the difference between an AWD model + taxes would have been substantial.
Looking around I feel that I got a good deal over all.

Not sales tax, would have had to pay that if I bought it in Mass. They do tax free weekends once in a while to lure people into spending money, but for 23500, the tax would've been another 1000+.

I got mine for $23,000 after haggling down, has 40,000 miles on it but is a Tech Package. So I think you got a good deal considering it's the advance with slightly less millage. Now of course the prices of cars up here in Canada are a lot of higher than the U.S. unfortunately...

coulda sworn the advance comes only in AWD, based on their brochure.
edit: guess i'm wrong. didn't see it in the canadian brochure.

Ragus, congradulations on you purchase. I purchased a 2012 advanced last december. Love the car. I paid ~20k for it but it had over 80K miles. There are no problems with the car currently at 90K. The only maintenance I have done is replace the transmission filter due to a it making a gurgling noise. For someone that actually likes tinkering with cars (my last was a 97 BMW which provided lots of opportunities), there is nothing to fix on this car. The motor and trans are dry as a bone.

I just bought a 2012 awd advance package (not cert) with 47K miles for $23,750.
I think the cert with extended warranty is probably worth $2,500, so that is a decent deal in my opinion.

I recently sold my white '12 TL Advance FWD with 52k miles on it and bought a certified Silver Moon '12 TL Advance FWD with 10k miles on it for $26,300 + tax and tags. Got almost $22k for my white one. Sold to private party.

Couple of comments on this thread.
First, like Ragus, I live in NH and there's no sales tax (which is great). You can buy a car in Mass and avoid the sales tax by having the car delivered in NH (or by getting NH temporary plates before you take delivery and driving the car home without any Mass footprint). Most of the dealers know how to do this. But it's less hassle if you can find something in NH for sure since you get the temp plates and inspection.
Seeing these values, the difference between SH-AWD and the FWD variant is the biggest variable, and around here, SH-AWD is a hot commodity. They don't stay on the lots very long. There are two dealers in NH - one in Nashua and one in N Hampton (seacoast) and their CPO SH-AWD's don't stay on the lot very long at all, and for a '12 Tech or Advanced with low miles you can start getting close to $29k.
I know the dealer would LOVE to get their hands on my wife's "soon to be off-lease" '12 SH-AWD Tech - it's white/taupe, only 26k miles, and has separate wheels/tires for winter (so factory rims are perfect). Her lease buy-out is only $21.8K, so we'd be silly not to buy it (vs moving to a TLX SH-AWD). But I figure that if the dealer got it they'd spend about 20 minutes prepping it and ask nearly $30k for it....
Happy wife, happy life.

That's a great deal. I paid I think 28,500 for my 6 speed with 11k on it a few months ago. I'm surprised you were able to find one with low mileage. Did you have to have the car shipped to you ?

2012 advance
Ironic, I was getting ready to ask opinions of the 2012 Shawd Advance TL. Four months ago I walked into a BMW dealership and drank the (Kool Aide ). Traded in my 08 TL type S with 110 K on it for a 2014 328Xi sedan with sport line and pretty well loaded. Car had 9k mi and I got it for $40K, former loaner. I got 1.9 % financing and $11K on the type S. So I went from no car payment to $546 a month. Car is sharp and really is a rocket, but I'm just not happy. It's a cpo elite and covered until 2019. I can afford it, but the New England Yankee in me says it's overpriced and over -rated. I tried to trade it back in with the dealer for a X3 suv and would have taken a $8k hit. Just saw a 2012 TL Advance shawd at a dealer, 43K mi and asking $27,900. I might check it out tomorrow. If I sell my BMW, it will be on Craiglists or I'll just keep it for a couple of years.Never should have traded in my S. Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks.

i paid 31k for a 12 advanced shawd with 32k miles early last year here in Mass.
the thought of selling or trading my car in has crossed my mind because of the monthly payments but i absolutely love this car and i don't think id be happy in anything less than what this car has in terms of options and luxury features.
i still owe about 25k on it and I'm pretty sure a dealership would not come close to giving me that amount but its nice to see them selling for more than i owe tho.
