Front lip only?

Anyone install the front lip only? Or maybe run the front lip with mudflaps?

I was thinking of ordering the body kit In stages....wonderedif it would look ok to install the front only....or if it would look too unbalanced.

On the RL forum a few guys ran the aspec front bumper alone...or with just mudflaps...but without the sides or rear and it looked good....curious if anyone has done it on a 4G TL.

Thanks

Just buy the front and back and save your money. I went a purchased the whole kit and the sides looks almost the same with stock. I wanted to return the sides back but it was already install in the car.

i do not agree with zelaya, the sideskirts make the car look lower and also keeps the height of front, rear aligned.. without sides, car will look uneven.

if your going to do it, do it right.. dont mickey-mouse the job.

Potmilks has installed front lip on my 2012 TL BMW. I think it looks fine without side & rear kit. But if I add another kit on the car, it would be side.

I said " almost the same " which to me is not worth the money, plus Ihave a dark color vehicle but that's my opinion.

Personally on the 09-11 I would not do any front lip. If it's a 12 then yes I would.

I did front and sides only in my mbm 2012. Makes a big difference! Front is sweet! I thought the sides looks similar to the stocks but once it's on the car, i love how sporty it looks.

OP - If you can do the front, sides, and rear......ie - the full lip kit, do it!

They each compliment each other, imo, it looks unfinished/ incomplete with only the front.

my plan is to do the whole kit... but rather than drop the money all at once, I debated about buying the kit in pieces.... do the front first, then sides/rear later....

i'll likely just set the money aside bit by bit and buy it all at once. i can say this - the kit IS going on my car... I love how it looks with the kit and a drop. very sporty. the OEM lip kit totally changes the look of the car.. i think it decreases the "beaky" look of the front end and gives it a much more aggresive appearance... that plus a drop... i can't wait..

^^^ If it was me, I'd do as you stated, save the money and buy the kit all at once and install at the same time. Doing it piece by piece is, in my opinion, not the best way to proceed. Your TL will look awesome with the kit....look forward to seeing the pics

i agree, when you dont install the complete under body kit,it looks weird from the side.

It only looks good from the front because the car appears to be lower but when you look at it from the side the lines dont flow.

I have a 2012 Advance and I thought about getting the dealer body kit because it was the only kit available but I have changed my mind. Then I wanted just the front....negative. Im just not feeling the look and design. The kit for 2012 is a collaboration body kit sections that you pop on the car that really have no function at all but to add more weight to a already heavy car. I can say that the front and rear sections have improved over the 09-11 design. But they both look like you hit a curb and ripped off the center section. The side skirts are too blocky like a painted 2x4 and the rear is just useless. I truly dont understand why the kit comes so high on the body like a nerd with his pants pulled up over his stomach. I think that RON JON design is the best looking body kit for the TL bar none. It is a complete body kit and has a true function. This is my only my opinion and I dont take anything from those who like the kit. For now my car will remain clean until a better design is produced to the market.

if you ever see a ronjon kit upclose.. you will change your mind as fitment on the product is horrible the last time i saw one.

oem kit fits best. it wont rip off or anything.. and let me tell you, if you hit a curb, your more than likely to be looking at other damages besides just a lip.

im lowered and i scrape all the time, my lip still stays on.

its all personal preference. some people like 09-11 rear, and some dont.. many people like the 12 fronts but some like the 09-11 better.. its what YOU like..

personally i like 09-11 rear, but i like the 2012 front and its grill.

No I have never seen the Ronjon on a TL up close and I agree fitment issues /durability would be a hugh turn off for me. I will stand firm that the design of the ronjon kit visually looks better. I will agree that the 09-11 rear kit is better looking and the 12 front kit is better looking. For the money spent on the expensive OEM kit what are you really getting? Is it functional enough to make a difference? Probably not. So you would be doing it for looks and that is sub-par. The 09-11 front is just ugly to me and the 12 front just has those little protrusions at the bottom that accents the front bumper. All the rest of that going on around the side / over the signals is useless blubber. What happened to a simple front lip that covers the entire lower half of the bumper ? Instead of covering plastic with more layers of plastic. I wish some company (besides the one that designed the "beak") would step up and make a good looking quality body kit for the TL that flows with its lines instead of being a "spoiler". The TL needs this because the front bumper is not as aggresive looking as for example the CL9 TSX which can stand alone w/o a body kit.

Everyone does this for looks. Rarely anyone does any exterior mods for functionality purposes as far as aerodynamics. At the end of the day, it all boils down to personal opinion.. yours may be different than most people.. i see it as an improvement over the stock look. Paying $1000 for a painted factory oem lip kit is average to me.. even back then when integra's were in the game, full lip kits were about $800. So being the price it is now, i wouldn't complain. Acura is moving forward, lower bottom half lips are out of date for them, they will not go back to that. We might think that it will still look good, but brands are moving into multipiece and crazier design lips.

Point well taken but I at least try to find form and function because it does make a difference. Just because I have money doesnt mean I will spend it on that kit because it is all I have offered. I think in ways it accents the car and in ways it doesnt. I agree that new designs are more diverse but thats not always good. Thats why most favor the 3rd Gen TL's. So guess what? I will save money, time, weight and ride clean with the great lines Acura gave us.
