Found my baby - mileage rolled !!

So decided to look up my 2010 Acura and found it on 3rd hit using VIN. When I picked this car up it had 4 miles on it and when I gave it back it had a little over 28k. Was so happy that I actually found it and then I noticed that it now..miraculously... has 17.6k miles. Didn't touch any of my mods which is so nice.

Buy used 0 Down $495.00 A Month for 72 Months @ 5.9% Financing Available in Avenel, New Jersey, United States

EDIT: ^^ That's the link to my actual car on their website, not a sales pitch.

It still looks good and I still love it, but one must do a lot of research if/when looking to buy a used car and pray you don't run into a scam.

I agree, this should be reported..

It would be interesting to see how the CarFax report coincides with the mileage the dealer is showing.

Also, if the car had been serviced by Acura over the years, the dealer repair orders also should show discrepancies when compared to the 17K this used car dealer shows. Meaning if the TL was serviced 3 months ago with 26K miles on it, how can it have 17K now???

Ford bought this car out from me on the spot with 3 months left on my lease when I got my Edge Sport from them. Maybe because there was no lease-end inspection someone decided to roll the miles ? But I also gave it back in June 2013, what happened in 3 years and how many miles were driven on it ? At the very least it's 11k gap if the car was parked for 3 years.

Might be just mistyped or a clerical error.

How do you roll back a digital odometer?

For the record, I'd report that shit too.

I thought you recently traded it. But if you turned it in almost 3 years ago it is quite possible the next owner messed around with the mileage before this used car dealer got it..

I originally thought the mileage was rolled back by approx 9K which is bad enough. But since its been 3 years this TL could have another 30K+ miles since you got rid of it with 28K. When you turned it in, regardless if they inspected it or not you should have been required to sign an odometer statement. Do you still have a copy of it?

Yeah, that really is scary! Maybe they're just using your car to lure buyers and posted a pic of that odometer from another car?

Hmm I'm not sure if I still have those papers. I've already gave back that Ford (2 year lease) and picked up another Acura so I could have easily thrown it out.

I'm not even sure to whom I would report this and what proof do I have if I don't find my old papers. The first thing that comes to my mind is talk to my mechanic who did inspections on the car and see if he could pull up old records using car's VIN.

Do you want the car back ?

If not, it's not your baby anymore

When you break up with a gf do you stalk them and see what kind of kinky things they are up to with the new man that she never did with you ?

If you don't want the car back, ignore it . Not your problem

If it's not actually a rollback, I've seen dealers pull a scam where you go look at the car and they say the odo photograph got mixed up with another car and the car in fact has the correct mileage. They hope by getting you down there they can still sell you the car. But yes, I'd report it especially since they have a screenshot of the odo.

EMG Auto Sales never sat right with me. They always seem to have a crazy number of very nice/desirable cars available at pretty good prices. I admit I've never had any personal dealings with the dealership, but everytime I search for a car w/ 6MT, they always seem to have a handful, whether it is a WRX, G37, 370Z, or otherwise. Maybe it's a dealership that specializes in those types of cars. Another thing is they don't really seem to take many off of their listings (When I looked for a 6MT TL 3 or 4 months ago, This dealership had 3 2009-2014 TL's w/ 6MT.. Now they have 2 (both the same as when I looked last). I can't find anything glaringly wrong, but if I were to buy a car from them, I'd proceed with caution.

Also - your car is not listed on their cars.com site any longer, and I can't find any history of it on eBay.

If you replace the cluster you can use HDS to write the old mileage into the cluster. I'd imagine the shop used HDS and changed the mileage on the car.
