Wink This forum is dull

For the last 16 yrs I have owned BMW 5 series cars and frequented the Roadfly forums on a very regular basis, due to the high frequency of problems with my car. These included abs and central computer failures, multiple cooling system problems, suspension (front & rear), steering wheel shimmy,cd changer failure, cracked and shorted wiring to the trunk, mysterious fuse failures due to faulty fuel door actuators, shorted central locking, coolant hose failures (replacements up to $350/hose + labor), electric seat and window failures (always stuck down) $1300 water cooled alternators, $2500 steering racks and several fluid leaks which were never less than $800 to fix,and others which I have repressed the memory of. All on cars with less than 100k miles. Always when I went to Roadfly, someone had it worse than me, that forum was highly entertaining! Here all it seems we have to worry about is whether the grill would better painted, and which is the most attractive color or wheels! I should have bought a TL years ago.

haha welcome to the japanese luxury car forums! I guess we've been "spoiled" by having such reliable cars, you're right in the sense that our "issues" mainly are cosmetic or about (lack of) features.

Then again this has been know for a long time!

You probably just jinxed all of us.

Welcome, a friend I once had a 525i that went through 4 transmissions by 200,000 miles. Granted, he drove the crap out of the car, I drove my Acura Legend at least as hard and it still works great @ 225,000 miles.

There are a lot of nice looking cars on the market, so I wanted to get one that had low maintanance.

I am also a convert to the Japanese luxury car world from BMW. Right before I opened this thread I did a survey from Acura about my new car....couldn't really find anything to bitch about. Though there may be a feature or two some feel are missing on the TL, at least what is there is well thought out and works (exclude crazy ipod scrolling). Little shit like iDrive, the intuitively backwards steptronic shifter, and not being able to see the radio display with sunglasses on used to drive me crazy. Thankfully, never had any of the nightmare problems OP described. Hope to have all the good experiences everyone here has.....

I did the BMW-535i. Nice car-it nickeled and dimed me to death. Been there-done that. Back to Honda/Acura for me.

I lurk in the TL forum periodically as I bought a 2010 TSX almost 2 months ago. The initial post in this folder made me literally laugh out loud at my desk! I traded in my 2002 BMW 325xi to get my TSX b/c at 90k miles everything was starting to go and I just couldn't stand having to pay upwards of $1000k for every little thing. The final straw was the steering rack going - when my mechanic told me it was going to cost at least $1500 to fix, I said adios to the car (even though I loved driving it to death). I was still on my original clutch and I knew that if I fixed the steering, there was only going to be something else down the road that broke. I had a Prelude with almost 200k miles on it, an Integra with 100k+ miles on it, and my dad just traded in his RSX with 100k+ miles on it - so when it came to deciding on what brand to go with, I knew I had to go back to Acura and the land of problem-free driving!!!

Welcome!
